Chicago St. has an away match against former conference foe NMSU on 13 Oct. It looks like it was either the Lamar or UIW slot on the Aggie Schedule.

CSU should not be allowed to continue on in DI. They have no money, they are in serious danger of closing as a school.
They should be in the NAIA, and would fit right in with the Chicagoland conference.

Chicago State has plenty of money, all of their programs are fully funded, they offer COA for all their headcount sports unlike many, their coaches are well compensated and have multiyear contracts. Their teams travel well, the school's financial troubles are now well in the past.

Chicago State has 25 matches scheduled. Honestly, I'm impressed they were able to get that many. BUT, 22(!) of those 25 are going to be on the road. They have a home tournament Thu-Fri-Sat from Sep 1 - Sep 3rd. I'm gonna guess Chicago State's Senior Day will be held on September 3rd against Illinois-Chicago?

Wow. The COVID year featured game 1 senior days, but technically not before Labor Day since it was in the Spring.

Some highlights of their schedule: At New Mexico State on Thursday then at West Virginia on Saturday. Then a couple weeks later, at Hofstra on Sunday then to Iowa State to play on Tuesday.
Yikes

Wouldn't be surprised if they have the smallest student body, the smallest school total budget, and the smallest athletic budget of any public school (possibly any school period!) in DI.
NAIA Chicagoland member Governors State is a public school just a few miles south of Chicago St, and I believe has triple(?) the student body size of CSU.
Painfully obvious that that is where CSU belongs.
No DI conference will ever accept them as a member. They were kicked out of the MidContinent (Summit now) and then the WAC. Embarrassing ...

You are confusing enrollment with funding, my friend. Hate all you want, still fully funded, still COA for head count sports. BTW CSU went 3-1 vs B1G in 2021-22 with wvb beating Indiana, wbb beating Wisconsin, men's soccer beating Northwestern. MBB beat NMSU couple of weeks before NCAA tourny. CSU athletics is definitely not what you remember, old timer. They may have been kicked out of Mid-Continent, 100% not the case with the WAC. If they had football they'd be in a conference long ago. Anyways, money is coming obviously from somewhere and you're right, it's not from student athletic fees. I'd guess that CSU athletics is better funded than at least 1/3 of DI athletic programs.

The WAC will always be in danger of losing teams, hence why they had to accept a DII move up like Cal Baptist. And yet, they kicked Chicago State out ...
CSU up and decided to announce it was leaving. Usually that's a thing when the other side gives you an ultimatum to step down or be fired ...
With UMKC out, there was no geographical linkage to the western US or the new Texas schools. They were an island. And they were an anchor on the conference's RPI in men's bball.

I wish CSU well. My hat's off to all coaches and admin who have stuck it out and fought to make it work.
I don't foresee them getting an invite to any DI conference. The OVC would probably be the best shot, at this point. Little Rock, SIUE, and Southern Indiana do not have football, while Morehead is Pioneer.
