She was guaranteed to play, more than a week ago. She was cleared to play at Nebraska in May. Her transfer was approved a week ago, sure. Guaranteed to play at Nebraska without a scholarship, you mean. Your arguments have been incredibly disingenuous throughout this Cook-induced debacle. Yes, guaranteed to play without a scholarship. hornshouse is implying she was unable to play. She could, and she is. She's just playing at the school that gave her the best deal. You don't have to go into hysterics about this. It's a pretty cut-and-dried business deal. Caffey did was was best for her. This is going to be the new normal in college sports.

I’m not sure if the poster is saying she was guaranteed to play because she could have stayed at Nebraska on her own dime, but chose to transfer after the portal deadline, taking that guarantee away. The fact is she was back at the mercy of the ncaa at that point. Again. So her choices were stay at the program that betrayed you and figure out the money part, scramble to find a new place and pray your waiver is approved, don’t play at all. All three options suck. Oh, and then Get dragged through the press to boot. Saying that’s destructive is n’ hyperbole in my opinion. In fact, it doesn’t paint the picture as shady enough.

My sweet summer child, you do know she had to apply for ANOTHER waiver because she entered the portal after the deadline? And that waiver wasn’t a guarantee. Getting you to see the entire picture is like explaining gravity to a chicken. Do you, but you’re wrong on this one. In his 20 year storied career, it’s okay to admit your guy was wrong on this one.

I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt you shared similar comments on VT after John Cook’s last raise. just as long as you understand what you were promoting. What you’re saying is, anyone that is incredible at sports deserves a much higher level of comfort and lifestyle as others do? Yep. While years ago I was reluctant I am now comfortable acknowledging Madi Kubik and Logan Eggelston while college students are simultaneously employed/engaged in the entertainment business and should be compensated for that entertainment activity just like the coaches and administrators do. John Cook, JE, Nick Saban aren’t teaching middle school history and coaching the volleyball team after school for a $150 stipend. They are purely in the entertainment business. And the market determines their compensation and for years they along with the media companies were the only ones being compensated proportionally for their contributions to that sports entertainment business. Are there concerns that it’s kind of wild Wild West now? Sure, the NCAA shares most of that blame because for decades they fought tooth and nail to ensure their monopoly of free or subsidized (scholarship) labor in their business didn’t receive any due compensation because they, the coaches, college administrators, NCAA all wanted it for themselves. Now they are scared to do anything after the Supreme Court ruling. My experience in life says all systems are generally in search for balance, this is no different and I’m hopeful the college sports entertainment business finds balance to ensure it remains entertaining including guard rails for competitive advantages while compensating those who contribute to the entertainment. I’m starting to believe you secretly are a communist based on your comments comrade.😂

And the only time she could have entered the portal after she got the written notice that she wasn't going to be on scholarship was on either June 30 (if they actually informed her early in the day, which I doubt) or July 1. So like 24 hours, and I think Cook did what he could to make sure that deadline passed as well by trying to sell her on NIL and/or pro opportunities. I think she was blindsided, so I'm not surprised it took her some time to decide what to do.

I've admitted Cook was wrong. I'll go back and find those posts and quote them to you if you need them. His rant about NIL was wrong, the way he talked about names on jerseys was wrong, just... wrong. But that doesn't mean his every action and step in the last eight months regarding Caffey has been wrong. I'm aware she applied for, and received a waiver to play at Nebraska, announced in May. I'm aware she had to apply for yet another waiver to transfer to Texas just now. Everyone's aware of that.

Oh, to be a Nebraska fan...and worse...live in Nebraska. 🙄 Yes it’s torture, I live in one of the most beautiful valleys in the nation. North of me are the great American Sand Hills and South are the canyons. We have pure water and no crime. Clean air and gorgeous sunsets. It’s just terrible. You go, Glen Coco. 🙄 I'll resist going into this crazy trap.

If a student was getting an academic scholarship AND making money on the side as an influencer or by running a company, I think that would be considered ok in most circumstances. It is a little weird that athletes haven’t been able to do the same thing until NIL. That is a very interesting and insightful perspective/comparison. I’m not sure how much of a factor it is, but there’s a major difference in value brought to the school (unless the business happens to be based on technology licensed from the school).

You fricking idiots still debating the merits of John Cook in this episode with Kayla Caffey. Lol. What has the jury decided when all facts aren’t known? He was aggressive to the point of about any legal way to get the 7th year so Nebraska could make the final four in Omaha. What would get Nebraska in the strongest and most experienced roster possible to reach that goal and win it all in 2022? The X factor was the NCAA coming up with two scholarship losses over two years for one season of gain. The squeeze wasn’t worth the juice either decided by JC or his boss above. IMO and nothing to prove it. Go get more of a life for a little while till at least practice starting really soon.
