He's on a self-imposed hiatus. I imagine he will pop backup eventually. I would assume right around world championships

Hasn't everything that can be said SAID by now regarding Caffey vs Cook? Why not let meaningful game action occur before opining a victor in this matter so we don't have another several dozen pages of rehashing the same things. New here?

This is a pretty disgusting thing to say and imply. I work in college admissions and you don't know the specifics of a person's or family's ability to pay for college. Universities issue scholarships, they make a decision to make college affordable to students. Student don't go begging or scheming to get a "free ride." Caffey has been able to get an education while also contributing to a university's athletic profile. If the funding isn't there, why ask her to choose between student debt and education/volleyball? It's lazy and harmful to say that she's spoiled, pampered, and got a free education. get off that high horse. It’s a trade. Fantastic athletes get free education for their sports performance. It’s a business deal. They also now get money just because they’re great at sports. I have a very hard time feeling sympathy for people like this when there’s poverty students who can’t get a scholarship nor can they get a grant. I feel sorry for the people who deserve to be felt sorry for. Cry me a river. Not sure what high horse you mean. I'm speaking from my work experience, that's all. It's not a trade anymore--that's such an obsolete mindset because things have changed drastically. Any good coach or recruiter will tell you this. Coaches know that players and their families want more than just tit-for-tat. It's not about tuition-free education repaid in athletic ability anymore. That's just the reality of how these things work these days. Again, I say this from my work experience. And this whataboutism with high need students is bonkers to me and they don't deserve to be used as a counter point in some weak argument. Many of those "poverty students" (a phrase that shows just how out of touch you are) end up being student-athletes and are recruited as their only way to fund their education. Athletic scholarships typically come from people that donate directly to a team/program. Other scholarships and forms of financial aid come from many other places. Students who need high financial aid are not getting shafted for amazing athletes--the money comes from very different places. Also, nobody's asking you to feel sympathy for Caffey--you can feel whatever you want about her--just don't think that she's some greedy child who's only looking out for herself. That's what Cook would have you believe.

That's what Cook would have you believe. Nope...I don't think she is greedy at all. In fact I think it would have been her wish to stay with the Huskers and I dont blame her for choosing another school to further her education. She needs to do whats best for her in the long run. I also don't think she was treated great but....she still gets a 7th year of free education and the trade is her athletic skills, right? I have a hard time thinking this is tragic when most students work three jobs after graduation for 10 years trying to pay off their school loans. Thats my perspective. Thanks for the comment. I get ya....I see your point.

Just looking at this. When he made the statement she was financially covered, I was assuming NIL. Using 2 years of scholarship would be tough to give almost any player.Amen.
