I'm still working on this. Sorry it's so early but there are a lot of matches on Aug 26. I like that all the teams' colors are gold. If you look closely at the gold names, you might be able to see that they're different shades of gold. Or you can't see it but they are slightly differnt.

I don't see anything wrong with honoring former standout players from the host program by naming a tournament after them.
Admittedly, I know nothing about either individual (other than what was included in the press release, and to be honest I didn't even read it that closely), nor much about the history of the ASU VB program. Nor do I really pay much attention to the "names" of tournaments, whether it be named after individuals (such as this one), or corporate sponsors, or more generic names such as the "[host school name or mascot] Invitational"

It's new for this year; this tournament also represents ASU volleyball's alumni weekend. Apparently the goal of this is to try and keep ASU volleyball alumni connected with the program, which honestly is something ASU has really struggled with. Seems like this was mainly coach Tomasevic's idea.

I had forgotten that Arizona doesn't do Daylight Savings Time.
Normally, Central Time (where I'm at) is just one hour ahead of Mountain Time (where ASU is)
However, since we are on Daylight Savings Time, but Arizona is on Standard Time, there is a 2 hour difference for half the year.
