My observations from the scrimmage:
2 inches make a huge difference. Blocking between Hames and Orr seems significant. Orr just seems to play bigger/taller and more physical.
Lauenstein is like a gazelle on a trampoline. She’s got some hops and power. So athletic.
Krause still resorts to roll shots too frequently.
Allick and Lil’ Kubik showed up big time. Allick should get plenty of playing time but it might be harder for Lil’ Kubik considering the depth at the pins.
Hope the experiment with Knuckles in front was simply to fill a need due to Batenhorst being out.
Blocking seems so natural for Hord. Would like to see more offense from her…I’m sure it’ll come when her timing with Orr improves.
Mendelson looks like a basketball player trying to play volleyball. The way she runs the slide and the way she hits the ball…her movements are very basketballish.
Serving and court defense didn’t match the level at the end of the last season but I suspect it’ll get better as the season progresses.
Overall, we looked significantly better than where we were at this time last season.
