Anyone else listen to the KZSU broadcast yesterday and notice he at one point referred to her as “Meghan McClure” and forgot to add his own last name? 😂 He quickly corrected himself. This reminded me, in a funny, circuitous way, of 2018 when Merete Lutz did a solo commentary of an exhibition match between SU and some eastern European team (Serbia I vaguely recall?). She was good! Now that these semi-cupcake matches are in the old book, onward to UF! Hopefully Rubin will rebound from her "sophomore (second match) slump". Did not really matter v. TSU. A match prediction? UF in 5.

But they started slow in the first set, which they tended to do last season too. It's like they wake up in the middle of the first set. That's going to bite them against top teams. They relied a lot on one player, esp if you disregard the third set where they were trying to spread things around to get experience for backup players. I don't think that will necessarily happen against Florida and it's good that Kipp did better this match than the first one (where offense was more evenly distributed) but I hope that it's not a problem against Florida or the following matches.
NB: I'm not that nervous bc they probably used this match to focus on things they thought needed improvement so there's a good chance it won't carry over. But I'm a little bit nervous.

Yeah, I get that. For me...after the total dumpster fire of *2020, along with this past year's Covid-residue...my deal is to go back to the first match in the '20 season vs. Arizona...and compare THAT to now. With that orientation, the program's on-the-upswing in spades. My perspective is: SU WVB is fun again!

They're definitely better than 2020 but I don't count that season.
We'll see soon how good they are. They play FLorida, Texas, Penn State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Louisville, Cal, Washington, and Oregon (at Oregon). That will tell me a lot about how good the team is and how much fun it is to watch them.

And yeah, it was Lipscomb...but I feel more upbeat than during the previous 19 months. Still way early.

So I read all 6 pages and I didn't see anyone explain this...
Why did Stanford play Tennessee State?

So I read all 6 pages and I didn't see anyone explain this... Why did Stanford play Tennessee State? Because Stanford coach Kevin Hambly mentored or has been mentoring TSU coach Donika Sutton.

Of course, I move from Nashville and then Stanford comes to play... I knew it was going to happen someday, Stanford playing a match in Nashville, but I didn't expect it so soon. When Vanderbilt starts playing WVB in 2024, the probability of Stanford playing another match there goes up. On the TV broadcasts, the announcers (who mentioned Vandy's commitment to have a WVB team, which I thought we would never see) said that the programs in the area are trying to land a Final Four. The AVCA might actually go for that... Nashville would be popular with its members.
