In a state of Ohio rivalry match last night, the Ohio Bobcats won a see saw battle from Kent State 3-2. Kitten hit this match right on the nose predicting a 3-2 Bobcat victory. With the win, Ohio improves their MAC East record to 6-3 and stay within striking distance of league leader Bowling Green 7-1. The Golden Flashes fall to 3-6 and have a lot of work to do to make the post season 6 team MAC tournament. There are 3 matches slated for Wednesday and the big one will be in Toledo where the Rockets and Ball State will play for 1st place in the MAC West. The Cardinals are red hot winning 6 consecutive matches while the Rockets are coming off a weekend split with Western Michigan. Both teams are currently 6-2. Toledo is extremely tough to beat in Savage Arena, but one team that can shoot down the Rockets are the defending MAC champion Cardinals who return 6 of 7 starters from a year ago. Here are Kitten’s picks for Wednesday: Ball State over Toledo 3-1, Bowling Green over Miami 3-0, Central Michigan over Eastern Michigan 3-1,

Thursday night was a perfect night as Kitten correctly predicted all 3 MACtion matches including the big one in Toledo for 1st place in the MAC West where Ball State defeated the Rockets in a hotly contested match 3-1. Ball State won the match with precision passing and neutralizing Toledo star left side attacker Taylor Alt. The Cardinals have now reeled off 7 straight MAC wins and are playing like the team that won the MAC a year ago. BSU moves to 7-2 in conference play while Toledo falls into 2nd place at 6-3. In other MAC matches Wednesday, MAC East leader Bowling Green (8-1) disposed of MAC East bottom feeder Miami 3-0. The RedHawks fall to 1-8. MAC West Central Michigan improved to 5-4 and into a 4th place tie with Western Michigan with a sweep of an improved Eastern Michigan club 3-0. The Eagles now stand at 2-7 and saddled in last place in the MAC West. Only 1 match on tap Thursday in the MAC and that’s Kent State at Buffalo. Both teams are tied for 3rd in the MAC East at 3-6. However, the Bulls are an improved team under coach Scott Smith and nearly upset Ohio University twice last week on the road in Athens. Kent State is treading water at the moment with up and down matches. Here is Kitten’s pick for Thursday: Buffalo over Kent State 3-1.

What is going on at Miami? They were a MAC powerhouse a few years ago, now bottom dweller. CC has had a great career, time to hang up the whistle?
I know success can be cyclical but going from the top to the bottom is a bit strange and extreme, especially considering there wasn’t a change in HC.
Looks like NIU is finally starting to climb back up after their rapid descent. Another strange change in results with no HC change.
Maybe Assistant coaches are more responsible for success in this league than one would expect. Both of those programs have had several changes there, but with the HCs staying put, you wouldn’t expect such drastic changes in results.

Kitten hit the Bullseye predicting Buffalo’s 3-0 sweep over Kent State last night. The Bulls are an up and coming team and still have a legitimate chance to qualify for the MAC tournament despite their current 4-6 record. Coach Scott Smith’s club currently resides in 3rd place in the East while Kent State slips to 3-6 and 4th place. Five matches slated for today. Here are Kitten’s picks for Friday. Ball State over Western Michigan 3-0, Bowling Green over Eastern Michigan 3-1, Ohio over Akron 3-1, Buffalo over Kent State 3-2, Toledo over Northern Illinois 3-1.

It is real simple, how does Miami only have 5 girls on their roster from Ohio? Very obvious the Head Coach has neglected to recruit local talent. It would one thing is Miami was sitting in the middle of the Dakotas, but Ohio is a Girls Volleyball Hotbed. Lot of girls from Southwest Ohio playing at other MAC schools because Miami Coach didn't recruit them. Miami should be a powerhouse considering the amount of talent in SWOH.

They have 1 Southwest Ohio kid on their roster. WMU has 4 and look at the record difference the past 2 years. Those 4 om WMU roster are big time contributors too. You would think Miami would be all over the top clubs in the Cincinnati area. Elevation, Tri-State, NKYVC have produced some insane talent over the years.

Possibly the biggest college volleyball upset in America took place last night when MAC West celler dweller stunned MAC East leader Bowling Green 3-2. Coach Darcy Dorton’s Eagles dropped the first two sets before flying back to win the next 3 sets in convincing fashion to improve their MAC West record to 3-7. EMU has now won 3 of their last 4 matches and are 4-18 on the season. Bowling Green falls to 8-2 in the MAC East and now lead the division by only 1 game over 2nd place Ohio (7-3). Kitten correctly picked the other 4 matches correctly. Ball State defeated Western Michigan 3-1, Buffalo swept Kent State to pretty much eliminate the Flashes from post season MAC tournament. Toledo disposed of Northern Illinois 3-0 and Ohio swept Akron 3-0. Here are Kitten’s picks for Saturday. Bowling Green over Eastern Michigan 3-0, Ball State over Western Michigan 3-0, Cental Michigan over Miami 3-1, Ohio over Akron 3-1 and Toledo over Northern Illinois 3-1.

EMU won in five, not four** After losing their first six five-setters of the season, the Eagles came through last night. Tomic went to her deep bench and could never quite find the right combination to break through against the scrappy EMU squad.

Kitten’s picks all went according to form with the exception of Northern Illinois must have victory over 2nd place MAC West Toledo. “DJ” Ray Gooden’s Huskies took down the Rockets putting Toledo 2 games behind front runner Ball State. The Cardinals knocked off Western Michigan 3-1 and now have won 9 straight matches and are deadlocked with Bowling Green of the MAC East for MAC tournament home court rights. The 9-2 Falcons defeated Eastern Michigan 3-1 after dropping a 3-2 match to the Eagles on Friday night. The stage is now set for the Ball State- Bowling Green showdown Friday night in the BG Stroh Center.

To be fair, just because they don’t have as many girls as you think they should from their home state or local area doesn’t mean they aren’t recruiting them. Maybe they did and those girls chose to go elsewhere. You don’t always get what you want in recruiting.

Her first class graduates this year, and sounds like they were hoping that the seniors would take their fifth year.
