jaypak - thanks for this feedback! I’m okay with capping it at 10 picks per week and I really like the NCAA tournament tiebreaker idea to help break any ties if needed. To clarify, to your point of only allowing a winner AND loser to be picked once, do you mean a team can only be used once whether they’re selected as the winner or loser, or do you mean Maryland can only be picked once as a winner and one time as a loser? I think they were mostly attempting to avoid reusing MV St and SC St virtually every week to lose, no matter who they are playing. I mentioned early on that there was some sort of poetic symmetry in using the same team both as a winner and as a loser during the season, but I don't know how to apply that in a useful way to the game. Maryland can be picked once as a winner AND once as a loser. Natural strategy to pick an Alabama State to lose to Auburn and later beat MVSU. The most daring among us could even pick SC State to win and lose.

Maryland can be picked once as a winner AND once as a loser. Yes, but it should somehow mean a lot more to pick them over Purdue than over Georgetown. Natural strategy to pick an Alabama State to lose to Auburn and later beat MVSU. The most daring among us could even pick SC State to win and lose. You say daring, I say suicide. Potato, potahto.

We'll just stick with 10 picks for next week, so 20 picks for you. t A few days ago, you announce it will be 15 picks next week. In the context of making for a better contest next year, one or two of the surviving contestants think 10 picks would be better and you then change next weeks to 10 picks. What about the following weeks? It is really unfair to those of us who plan our strategy on what the rules are and therefore are expected to be in the future. No way I would have made my week 10 picks if I had thought you were not going to increase weeks 11-14. Please lay out what the number of picks will be for the rest of the contest so that we can plan accordingly. Anyone who is a contestant and is still changing rules has an obvious conflict of interest. While I am confident you would never consciously do something rule-wise to favor yourself, IMO you need to go out of your way to lay out in advance objective and transparent rules in order to avoid even the possible appearance of impropriety. I and others may lose in week 10, but I would be shocked if the next 14 weeks are 10 matches each and there aren't multiple perfect scores. I stated above that I'm okay capping it at 10 picks per week so we will stick with that for the rest of the season. I like jaypak's suggestion for the tiebreaker as using the NCAA tournament so we'll use that. How does something like this sound? - NCAA Tiebreaker: If everyone remaining is eliminated on the same tiebreaker, then the winner will be who missed the lowest percentage of picks during the respective tiebreaker. If everyone was eliminated on the same tiebreaker & had equal percentage of picks missed on the respective tiebreaker, then the final tiebreaker will be whoever pick closest to the total combined points scored in the championship match. Tiebreaker 1: Pick 16/32 first round matches in the NCAA tournament Tiebreaker 2: Pick 4/8 sweet 16 matches in the NCAA tournament Tiebreaker 3: Pick 2/4 elite 8 matches in the NCAA tournament Tiebreaker 4: Pick 1/2 final 4 matches in the NCAA tournament Tiebreaker 5: Closest to the total combined points scored in the championship match

To me it sounds like a rip-off the the time honored PTW Tourney contest. Why not have everyone enter the PTW Tourney contest and whomever scores highest wins the Survival contest. For each of those, you’d pick 4 of the 8 sweet 16 matches and pick a winner. If you correctly pick all of them, then you’d move on to the next tiebreaker

Phew. I originally had LMU over San Francisco. Eventually changed it to Santa Clara since the Dons have been playing well recently.
Close call.

Glad you mentioned this - thought I had seen someone pick LMU over San Fran but then I went to see who was eliminated and no one was, so then I thought my memory was going bad, but my memory is fine and you had fortunately edited your pick.

Week 10 Existing picks 10/29 Nebraska Omaha over W Illinois 10/29 WKU over Louisiana Tech 10/27 Hawaii over UC Riverside 10/29 San Diego over Gonzaga 10/29 Northern Iowa over Belmont Additional picks 10/29 Texas St over Arkansas St 10/27 BYU over Gonzaga 10/29 Valparaiso over Indiana St 10/29 Pepperdine over San Francisco 10/30 Baylor over West Virginia Changed my mind. I'm fine with going to 15 picks for the next 4 weeks. More to the point, San Francisco changed my mind. One week of 10 picks, annnnnnnd, I'm out. Massey gave San Francisco a 1% chance against Pepperdine.
