How close does 'convention space' need to be? Monona Terrace is just about exactly one mile away. Monona Terrace is way too small. The biggest convention they can hold is maybe 2400 and their biggest "convention" was Ironman which isn't really a convention at all, it's a big registration site with really long running ramps and parking lots. The distance away is not the issue to the Terrace, it's the size. I think the Dane County expo is big enough, but then it's not that close to the Kohl Center. It's possible there might be enough hotel rooms now. Id be curious to know what cities regularly put out bids to host the event… the convention that is…

The Columbus Convention Center had a giant statue of a human head with AI-generated faces projected on it.
I don't think that's a requirement, though.

So is Wisconsin just using this Taraflex court for this Kohl Center game, or will they bring it back into the field house? Seems like a waste of money if only using at the Kohl center, no? 🤔

Who is actually going? I want a testimonial to the atmosphere. I have doubts that the intimacy of the Field House can translate to the Kohl center, and that space is so large I worry the energy of the fans could get diluted a bit. Would love my worries to be proved wrong.

OK reading that article calmed me a bit. There will be title IX celebrations. A lot of club and HS teams will be present. 3,000 student tickets sold. There won't be random disconnected people in there.

I look for Badgers to win a real tightly played contest. I also think their setting will be a bit more crisp as the team continues to get more experience playing in these 6-2 rotations together. Wouldn't be surprised to see Wisconsin run out of subs in a set or two. Ultimately I believe the serve game and blocking will give Bucky the W in 4 sets.

An FYI, unlike the Field House and its usual 60 minutes, doors at th Kohl Center usually open 90 minutes prior to "game time". Time to walk around the concourses, both levels, look at the various displays and "trophy cases" that contain more than just trophies.

Would love my worries to be proved wrong. I’ve been to some big games at the KC for BB, notably the “Ben Brust game” where he hit a 3-pointer from halfcourt to tie the game against #2 Michigan to send it into overtime (where we then won). If that kind of energy shows up, it’ll be electric. If only 3,000 people show up like for WBB in recent years… it’ll be really bad. I expect a lot more of the former than the latter. I’ll be there with the whole fam of 6 plus a guest of one of my kids.
