I feel like Creighton being unable to defend that side (see Rutherford’s numbers) played a significant part in Lauenstein’s success. Doesn’t mean she can’t do something similar, but my feeling is her numbers are slightly more pedestrian versus the Tree, and other Nebraska players get an opportunity to step up. Just think how high her numbers would be if she played in the Big 12.

I don't think the Big 12 is that bad top to bottom compared to any conference other than B1G. Just a little skimpy at the very top this year. Remember, there's only 9 teams.

Outside of that I feel like Washington can do better if they can get their act together, and there are things I like about Oregon. A lot of the rest of the conference appears to be a hot mess, particularly UCLA and USC. I thought USC would be a lot better than they appear thus far.

I think USC has potential, but they are pretty young. Wilson and Trubint are fresh off the boat, but are talented. Fields, Weske, Williams, and Miller are experienced. Tuaniga, their sophomore setter is pretty talented but sometimes makes bad decisions. To me they are sort of a wildcard in the Pac this year. UCLA OTOH is in trouble unless Luper starts playing regularly. When Luper isn't available, their lack of firepower on the pins is noticeable. When Luper is available she can kill OOS balls. I haven't been impressed with McKissock's setting either.

The Stanford team that showed up against Minnesota can beat Nebraska. The Stanford team that showed up against Penn State or Florida cannot. I’m interested to see if they turned a corner or that was an aberration. Interesting because these are the same team. There weren’t different players.

Currently the poll is Stanford 51 Nebraska 53 To me very surprising -- thought it would clearly favor Nebraska. Probably, the Minnesota win is skewing the result. People just look at Stanford's 3-1 over Minny and think they must be pretty damn good, but Minny sleepwalked their way through the match.

I may be bias, but Lexi, Madi, Kenzie, and Nicklin make up one formidable back row! 😎

That’s an impressive example of taking things completely and utterly literally. As if players can’t have good matches and bad matches.
