Letâs see if Stanford really deserves that generous #9 ranking preseason top 15, beat top 15 Florida and then #3 Minnesota losses are Texas (basically a wash in terms of hurting rankings) and then barely loses to a top 20 team who is now ranked 11th. currently have wins over #6 and #16 respectively, with losses to #1 and #11 teams they are currently ahead of that they weren't to begin the year are UK, BYU, UCLA, Purdue, Washington, Pitt... I don't see why any of those teams should be ranked higher or why 9 is generous at this point in time but im actually curious to hear your take

Early in the year. Questions to be answered. Can't wait to see these two good programs face each other tonight.

I mostly think the Minnesota win was a fluke, a great fluke for Stanford but still a fluke nonetheless. I donât think they are much better than the #16 Florida team they barely beat and if the head to head between Minnesota means a 7 spot difference then I just find it a bit eyebrow raising. I donât really feel like theyâre much better than the Penn State team they lost to, yet are still ranked higher than. I donât think they really pass the eye test of a team that can be consistently good throughout a match to be in the Top 10. However I think having arguably this yearâs most dominant opposite hitter is going to help them squeak by teams that canât contain her, even if comparatively they arenât much better if a TEAM than the ones theyâve beat. Lastly, itâs Stanford, so I think the name itself gives enough deference towards any womens volleyball team they put on the court that theyâre given more of a âbenefit of the doubtâ when it comes to rankings than other teams would receive. But if this win against Minnesota team that truly played like collective garbage isnât a fluke and just an uptick in this Stanford team figuring it out, Iâll begrudgingly eat my words. But yea idk, every game Iâve watched if theirs, the just look mid to me.

I understand what you're saying, but all the teams that moved below stanford have worse losses than stanford does. logically, it makes sense that they're ranked 9th, the eye test ranking which you're referring to is more subjective. the ranking may not be accurate but its certainly fair at this point in time imo

Canât believe Hames is still playing for Nebraska.. it feels like sheâs been there since time immemorial. And Kennedi Orr not running a 5-1.. woah! Who would have thought. Nebraska is stacked.
Again, if Stanford puts their services in, they will contend and will be very good.
If Baird is on, Stanford takes this game.
Canât wait.
Go Card!!

Maybe this will be the match. She was so good at hitting smart last season. Going for the last 3ft of the court constantly and taking line a lot. But this season she's hitting low seem a lot and getting blocked.

Can we just do some sets where Hord and Krause can actually swing at the ball? I don't feel I'm stretching my wants here..
