super excited for this one I think it's a fun style contrast: Kentucky with their offensive efficiency vs Louisville's block and defense (not saying that either team is bad at the other skills btw, just what I feel like they're known for) UK is bad at passing. We can say it.
If UofL doesn't put service pressure on UK, it could be a UK sweep. Their in-system offense is that good (2020 National Championship good). But if UK's passing looks anything like it did against Wisconsin... no bueno for the Cats.

Also, per the UK Volleyball insta, Leah Edmond is going to be doing color on the radio for this game! Not sure who will listen to that now that it's on ESPN (!!!) but we stan Queen Leah

I saw Reagan Rutherford play in high school (she was RS/S in a 6-2 and she was teammates with Skylar Fields) and I'm looking forward to seeing this one. I hear she's balling this season.

I wouldn't say 2020 championship good offense. 2020 had two first team all Americans on the pin who are much better than Rollins and lamb, Grome is certainly no 2020 Lilley at this point either.

Dear Baby Jesus, let this game be better than Stanford v. Nebraska was. I can't take any more JV volleyball this week

I think that's hindsight bias. Plus, I'm just talking about in-system offense (although I think this team is better OOS than the 2020 team). I definitely wouldn't say that this team, right now, is at 2020's level. Obviously.
But entering the 2020 season? Stumler had a history/reputation of struggling offensively, and Avery hadn't started since she was a freshman (and was filling the shoes of Leah freakin' Edmond). Goetz and Madi were both true freshman. I think if all other things were held constant, Rollins/Lamb/Rutherford/Tealer/Goetz (2022) would be more efficient in-system than Skinner/Stumler/Skinner/Tealer/Goetz (2020). I think they can, simply put, bounce the ball better.
However, as you said, Lilley > Grome (it was much closer to start the season, tbh), and passing (x1000). That's really the biggest difference between 2020 and 2022, not the hitting talent.

Dear Baby Jesus, let this game be better than Stanford v. Nebraska was. I can't take any more JV volleyball this week I think Louisville is one of the more consistent NCAA volleyball teams/programs. Seems like this season, it's going to be a toss up with UK

so you think lamb and Rollins would be a first team AA if they were on the 2020 team instead of skinner and stumler? (pretending the passing doesn't get any worse). I just don't see it that way at all lol. rebo is the only one on this team who wasn't starting in 2020 that probably would be if she was at her current level then. Rollins and lamb ar just nowhere near skinner and stumler, and even if rebo is better at opp than Madi, it isnt by a lot

What I said: 2022 UK's in-system offense is on the same level as 2020 UK's in-system offense. I am not saying the individual parts of the 2022 team are equivalent to the 2020 team. I am saying that with elite passing (what 2020 UK had), I think 2022 UK's offense would be as good. Saying "well, 2020 had two First Team AAs" isn't really relevant to my point at all (and I shouldn't have discussed that point, tbh). I'm talking solely about one facet of the game.

If this plays out anything like last night‘a match, ESPN is never showing volleyball on the main channels again. It’s curtains
