pepperdine with wins over baylor washington and now minnesota! So by the transitive property Northwestern is supreme!!!!!! The loss to Northwestern match was played within 24 hours of a 3-2 Cal Poly win and a 3-1 UW win. Horrible scheduling.

Was at the match. It's still the setting from MN. Plain and simple. People can offer their tortured rationalizations of "low energy" or someone's arm being sore as being the problem. But when the one person who has to contact the ball on every point doesn't put hitters in position to take a good swing...it's disheartening for players. You can pass perfectly, serve well, get a free ball, and still be hitting the ball from your armpit or six feet behind you 50% of the time. Minnesota has some of the best hitters in the country, and they don't get to hit. It's to the point that I'm wondering who stays next year among Landfair, Wenaas, Booth and Wucherer. Assuming Shaffmaster stays. you can’t set a shank.

That's exactly the point though. The ONLY chance Minnesota can get quality swings is with perfect passing. Pepperdine's setter gave their hitter so many chances even when she was brought off the net. Better tempo, better consistency, better location, deceptive choices. She led her team's offense. MN doesn't have that. Shaffmaster is rarely bettering the ball. If she doesn't start to, she'll be pulled, or MN will not be a top 15 team. I anticipate the latter will be the case. You are absolutely correct about Pepperdine's setter. She was spot on just about all night. The match I watched MN was passing 0s and 1s with an occasional 2. Pep passed nails. Maybe Iza was taken off the net a step or two, but the height, speed and center location (Pep is coached to pass to the center of the net) was consistent. In my eyes it was all about the serve receive.

I had to leave after the second set. Oh boy. Have no idea what to think of MN now. What's the rundown of what happened - what worked, what didn't? Was Pepperdine playing well? To be clear, I meant I actually had to leave the house, not sports fan "I had to leave because I couldn't bear to watch."

Wow congrats Waves! WCC is 🔥 this year. They came into our house and played a very very good match. They deserve all the kudos they are receiving.

Credit where credit is due: Megan Miller went all-world and had 27 digs in three sets. It was absolutely insane, she was just not letting the ball hit the floor. If she can do that very set, NW might make the tourney this year.

WCC is deep this year. San Diego is top 5, BYU is top 10, and Marymount and Pepperdine are top 15 IMO. It's gonna be interesting. Also, I think the top of the WCC is deeper than the PAC this year.

Losing to a good Northwestern team while playing their 3rd match in 24 hours after defeating Washington in 4 just 6 hours prior? Not a good enough reason. Good enough for AVCA to not elevate them properly.

Without Ahrens. Are you commenting or actually paying attention? Why would I pay attention to Pepperdine's game by game roster. P.S. Ahrens played against Northwestern, so apparently you are just trolling. Fight off.

I actually think they're about on the same level as Pepperdine with Marymount a bit behind.
