I am surprised about the outrage in this thread.

It's clear that Karch did not care about winning this match, just like he did not care about beating China in the VNL.
Besides starting non-starters, he subbed in Cuttino, SWP, and Hall at the most random times.

I dont know if Serbia had their starters on. If they did, I think the USA A- team did fine.

The VNL match actually didn't matter though. I don't think you'd mess around with World Champs since results carry over unless you were extremely confident.

I think USA will be fine to be clear, and I know the USA Program is in a much better state than 2018, but in the last World Championships when USA finished its 2nd round matches they were scoreboard watching, hoping that Russia would lose to China in the final match of the pool. Lucky for them, China did win, so USA advanced.

And to be even more of a not panic attitude, it's now Top 4 advance instead of Top 3, so extra breathing room. But, I still would be surprised if Karch was so confident he didn't care about winning this match. Thailand/Turkey/Poland/DR are very beatable teams, but, they're not exactly a group of teams you want to mess around with, particularly if lingering issues/depth are an issue (as evidenced by USA OPP situation)

Why are so many blaming this loss on one person who didn’t even play the whole match? I saw sets 1 & 2 and bits of 3. Serbia is just better than the US plus they have Bosco and the US does not. Didn’t Serbia also knock the US out of the VNL even without Bosco? The US has a good team. Just not the best one. Not a big deal.
