I get that these sets have a lot of spin, and I get officiating with consistency, but there have been so, so many doubles in this match. Not only do I think it's disruptive to the flow of the game, but those calls really get into a setter's mind almost to the point of interference. just sayin' Not to mention bad tempo and location! Exactly my point... There aren't any whistles being blown for bad tempo or location. I'm not advocating for one setter, or another. Just because there's spin on a ball, doesn't make it a double. Just because it's an ugly set, doesn't make it a double.

All the momentum on the side of Maryland. The Huskers are not just on the struggle bus, they’re under it.

For me, the really confounding aspect of a "double" is, to what degree of certainty was there two clear and separate contacts, and in addition, applying this same reasoning to forearm passing, digging, and setting, where the point of contact is so close in time, that there is a window where the ball can theoretically hit one forearm before the other.
The origin of the rule was intended for a player to be prohibited from taking the 1st contact and the 2nd contact consecutively (or the 2nd and 3rd). That is two contacts. The "double" is more of a ball-handling call, and should be renamed as such.

If there was capital punishment for totally inept announcing, this guy would be in BIG TROUBLE.
