What counts as a dig? When a ball is passed on a tip attempt, is it a dig or is it a judgment call depending on how hard the tip is? What is a ball is touched on a block attempt? If the ball comes out of the touch as a lollipop, does it count as a dig? If the ball changes direction after the block so that passing the ball is more difficult, is that a dig? If I understand all of your examples correctly, they are all digs. Lots of examples and definitions in the link. www.ncaa.org/sports/2013/11/19/ncaa-volleyball-statisticians-manuals.aspx"A dig (D) is awarded when a player passes the ball that has been attacked by the opposition. Digs are given only when players receive an attacked ball and it is kept in play, not when a ball is brought up off a “put back” (blocked ball). Philosophy. The pass or play of any ball that is attacked is awarded a dig. The ball can be kept in play on the digger’s side of the net or can go back to the opposition. In either case, a dig is awarded. Note: If an attack, as defined in Section 1, occurs and the ball is kept in play, then a player on the defending team receives a dig." "An attack attempt (ATT) is recorded any time a player attacks to attack (hit strategically) the ball into the opponent’s court. The ball may be spiked, set, tipped or hit as an overhead contact. Philosophy. Any ball that is played over the net in an attempt to score a point should be considered an attack. Any ball played over the net simply to keep the ball alive should not be considered an attack attempt." It's probably the most under counted stat then. I see so many digs that are not counted that I had to ask this question.

That would be hilarious.
"Shakespearian Couples for $100: She was the woman Romeo was in love with when he first met Juliet."
<ding!>
"I would like to buy a vowel, please."

This is a *REALLY* stupid Jeopardy question, but as a Wheel Of Fortune question... "Paranoia and double-checking, for a relatively cheap cost." Oh my gosh! I nailed it! The jeopardy Tournament of Champions final just started. I am easily confused. I bet you would (or did) enjoy their "VWLLSS HWN" (Vowelless Hawaiian) category from the 2nd quarterfinal game a couple weeks ago.

Was "what is Wahine volleyball" the answer to any questions?

Was "what is Wahine volleyball" the answer to any questions? "volleyball" is not a word in the Hawaiian language, but "wahine" in fact was the correct response to one of the clues 200: The ocean, (also a movie title): MN 400: A garland: L 600: A porch or patio: LN 800: Thank you: MHL 1000: A woman: WHN

I see so many digs that are not counted that I had to ask this question. all the coaches that ask me about it think digs are overcounted. There's a lot of inexperienced folks statting matches that call literally every live ball over the net as an attack/dig.

If a Number 1 Seed doesn't make it to the round of 16, where are the games played? Best remaining seed?

Let’s suppose all seeded teams flame out in weekend 1 - who hosts second weekend? The next highest seeded team hosts. So if all the tops were ousted but the 2s remained then this year it would be Minnesota, San Diego, Pittsburgh and Nebraska.

yes, highest remaining seed When and what team was the last time this happened? Hasn't happened since they (re)started having highest seed host in 2016. (2020 excluded since everything was in Omaha.)

So if all the tops were ousted but the 2s remained then this year it would be Minnesota, San Diego, Pittsburgh and Nebraska. And now that they're seeding the top 32 teams, it's incredibly implausible that any given region will have all eight (2 per sub-region) of their seeded teams flame out. But just think of the chaos which would ensue as the NCAA tried to figure out which cupcake should host a regional unexpectedly!
