Did you know…? Lake Michigan is the only Great Lake located entirely in the United States. Its name is derived from the Ojibwa word mishigami, meaning “large lake.” The lake’s geological formation began about 1.2 billion years ago, when two tectonic plates were ripped apart, creating the Mid-Continent Rift. Today Lake Michigan is a shipping hub - It’s connected to the North Atlantic by the Great Lakes Waterway and the St. Lawrence Seaway, and to the Gulf of Mexico by the Illinois Waterway and the Mississippi River.
Two ferries cross the lake between Wisconsin and Michigan. To the north, the S.S. Badger connects Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Ludington, Michigan; to the south, the Lake Express connects Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Muskegon, Michigan.

I remember taking the ferry from Manty to Ludington back in 1981 and then camping near Sleeping Bear Dunes

As a Michigander, I cannot possibly adequately express my distaste for Wisconsinites calling their state a “mitten”. The English language simply does not contain sufficiently descriptive words.

I only jest -- I literally did not know Wisconites did this until a friend's friend who went to UW Madison came along to a Mumford & Sons concert and tried to tell me Wisconsin was shaped like a mitten with the fingers folded at the knuckle --- aka, not a mitten.

When I lived in California for years and years - like Rainbow suggests - I would use the back of my left hand to help others 'visualize' Wisconsin, for the "where's Milwaukee?, "where's Madison?" "where's Green Bay?" kind of conversations. (My home town, Appleton, is down the Fox River, formed by the fleshy part between your thumb - Door County - and base of your index finger! :-) Other than that, no, not a mitten.

My coworker moved to Door County from Chicago recently, as so many are wont to do, and her adventures have been fun(ny) to keep up with -- I'm from Michigan's thumb, which is actually shaped like a thumb, so her Door County experience mirrors my existence until the age of 17.

I taught my daughters kindergarten class that each and every one of them carries a map of Wisconsin with them at all times, and using my hand (left hand, pinkie sticking out to make Door County) should them where various cities were. Alas, they cared much more about my cheesehead and trying it on.

Why does it say “streamed on ESPN”? Will it not be broadcast on ESPN?
