Sophie is a low iq player. She just does random dumb things and she passes out of system a lot. Chasing a bad pass, to set your partner is annoying af. Her setting isn't good, either. I see. I thought by "hard to play with" you meant something like a difficult personality or something. I agree that Sophie isn't as good as Pavan's previous partners. Haven't seen much of McBain, is she any better or at least has the potential? At 36, you wouldn't think Pavan can afford to wait around forever for her partner to develop. When Mel broke up with her, Sarah claimed she was making a list of potential partners when Sophie suddenly fell into her lap (again, I'm not sure I completely buy that story), but I wonder if Pavan was considering McBain last fall. I would imagine Sarah and Sophie are both risking losing funding from Volleyball Canada if their results will not be as good separately as they would be together. Seems like this might be a decision they'll ultimately regret. Sarah was 100% trying out partners when Sophie “suddenly fell into her lap”. 😂 McBain, and several others were looked at. McBain has potential. I am not sure if she was a better junior player or if she has the elite potential. I wouldn’t say she is outstanding. She is generally a smart, consistent player and while in the pipeline, needs more higher-level experience to see what she can do. I hope she can elevate her game with Sarah. Another point I would add about Pavan (Bukovec partnership) is that she took some time off after splitting with Mel and it was her decision to start rather late with training and competition after partnering with Sophie. Other teams like Chughes jumped right in. I thought they were behind even before they got started.

Lots of people taking shots at all the Canadian players today. I didn’t realize people thought so little of them. ♩♪♫♬...Blame Canada...♩♪♫♬

Seems that Sophie just played a qualifier with Shanice Marcelle in Canada and won the spot for the DR NORCECA event later this month that is the qualifier for World Champs. That would seem to confirm that she and Pavan have split.

If Sarah Pavan can’t get along with one of the nicest individuals (MHP) around, than that says a lot

Also, Sophie/Shanice apparently beat McBain/Belanger today. That should raise some doubt about whether Pavan is committed to playing with Molly.

Based on BVBInfo, McBain/Belanger played in a couple qualifiers lately. It could be they were already signed up. It's showing that they will play Norceca Grand Cayman before McBain plays Jurmala with Pavan in mid-June. www.bvbinfo.com/player.asp?ID=18610

Lots of people taking shots at all the Canadian players today. I didn’t realize people thought so little of them. I'm a fan of Bukovec. I like her work ethic and personality. Don't care for Pavan, MHP or Wilkerson. It will be fun watching Sophie and her new partner make their way up from Future events to Challengers. Hopefully they can get into a few Elite 16's.

Sophie and Shanice won the bid to go to the Norceca tournament to get into the worlds. Sophie was Blocking it sounds like from her post.

If Sarah Pavan can’t get along with one of the nicest individuals (MHP) around, than that says a lot They were together for 5 years and won the WC so "couldn't get along" is a gross exaggeration. I also think your interpretation is part of whats wrong with the social dynamics in women's BVB. MHP is bubbly and sweet and great for social media. But why should that mean a partner can't get angry or frustrated with her? She has been mentally weak and unable to sustain a level of play on the court for several years in a row now. Not sure why that isn't grounds for partners to get frustrated with her. Yes she smiles a lot, but if she were a man, no one would be suggesting that excuses the ridiculous errors she makes or that Sara being angry with that is not justified

Announcing this on IG without mentioning her partnership with Sarah is probably not the best way to keep her fans informed. Seems like half the replies are asking her what happened. On the other hand saying it feels good to “smile & laugh” sounds like an indictment on how her previous partnership went, in other words not fun at all.

I didn’t expect a big announcement at least not until one or both of them have a permanent partner (which both Marcelle and McBain could end up as). With Pavan as the senior player, I can’t see Sophie putting it out there that “it sucked to play with her so we split”. They will just quietly play and see what happens.
