Sorry if this seems insensitive, but I have two daughters and when we talked about this last night they both said Wisconsin players should only blame themselves... I agree with your daughters. We don't all have to agree, but I guarantee you they will never have pictures posted of them online topless. Too much finger pointing and not enough looking in the mirror. Today's society loves to blame everyone but themselves.

Is anyone moderating these threads? There’s now a second thread on the same topic. Can we please end this discussion of leaked nudes or get it moved to Over the Net or whatever that other board is called? The weirdos, creeps, and perverts can continue their “discourse” somewhere else. Maybe coordinate together to schedule a group therapy session or something. Agreed. I reported this post and said this issue needs to be merged into a 'megathread' so the haters, trolls, moralists and victim shamers can all pile on to their hearts content in a single thread. We will still keep seeing the same talking points repeated ad nauseum but will also allow the discussion of all the other intricacies relating to Wisconsin volleyball in the main Wisconsin forum without having to wear hip waders. Stop defending people for making poor decisions...

Do you have children? If so I feel for them. I definitely told my children how to avoid becoming a victim. They didn't always listen, but that's what kids do. This thread is not about blaming victims, it's about ways to avoid future victims. My paternal instincts coming out. Do you tell your daughter to not go on dates, because she might then be date-raped? "Don't go on dates, and you won't be date-raped" "Don't take the photos, and the photos won't get leaked". That is assigning "responsibility" - read "blame" - to the victims. Stop blaming the victims.

The victims are the SA's photographed in compromising situations. How is telling others not to take those pics, victim shaming? You are saying "don't take the photos, and the photos won't get leaked". That is assigning "responsibility" - read "blame" - to the victims. Stop blaming the victims. THEY DID NOTHING WRONG! don't take photos with naked people in the background without their consent.

How is it victim blaming to caution your child to avoid situations where the could get hurt? If a young woman walks alone at 3 am and gets mugged, of course it's not her fault. But I think that most parents want their children to avoid pain and suffering in the first place. The locker room should be a safe space for athletes. Period. And whoever leaked those photos is SO very wrong. But I don't think it's bad to remind young people that sometimes your actions have consequences you may not see coming and to consider those consequences before you act. None of those girls expected those photos to be public but now they are. And some of them, at least, are hurt because of it. You are saying "don't take the photos, and the photos won't get leaked". That is assigning "responsibility" - read "blame" - to the victims. Stop blaming the victims. And what if the leak was an accident? What if one of the girls accidentally sent a text to the wrong person? You should be able to take a photo with your friends and expect it to not fall into the wrong hands. But things happen and now this picture is out there. And regardless of what we say on this board, there are real people who are dealing with this and are hurt by it. So, no, I'm not blaming the victim. I am feeling sorry for some young women who were trying to have a little fun and are now having to deal with this crap.

Because I have no reason to believe that happened, and AMPLE reason to believe it did not. Because if that happened, that would be something for the UW Police to investigate. And we've been told QUITE clearly that the members of the team are NOT being investigated. So, maybe STOP BLAMING THE VICTIMS!

If one of the parents or woman are angry enough and feel that they were wronged, and decide to bring a lawsuit against one of the original picture takers for taking a non consensual picture of them completely nude in the background, or the school for negligence of a code of conduct or video device in the locker room, would you change your opinion?

The victims here are the woman in the background completely nude that did not consent to their picture being taken in this state with their name fully above them in the privacy of their locker room. Do you have no sympathy for how they must be feeling right now? The way you keep shouting at people without making any logical argument or other response than typing in all caps with the same exact phrase might imply you are actually victim shaming other victims.

In three years of being on VT, this is the most shameful BS I have ever seen. Keep "parental instincts" to yourself and yours, ehh? This is sideways voyeurism at its best - err - worst. What fascinates y'all so? Rob, I am bouncing off of your quoted post here in support of you. Hypocritical ethicality warriors? No!

People have mentioned individuals in the background being less-than-clothed (since, you know, it's a locker room, designed for people to change clothes in and whatnot). Whether that is true or not, I'll never know as I have no desire to seek out such photos myself, because that is part of the problem. But I stand by the fact that taking photos in a room where people are undressing/changing clothes is a bad idea.

i first alerted my staff to the peril of internet roughly 7 or 8 years ago. the surprise at the leak in 2022 is a little naïve and surprising to me. again, who's broken the law currently in force needs to be held accountable. at the same time, there's lesson to be learned, belatedly. this is not victim blaming.

How many times does this stuff have to happen for people to learn if you don't want a compromising picture to be posted on the internet then don't put yourself in a situation where it could happen. I don't care this is a locker room of teammates. One of life's great lesson's, you can't trust everyone. These girls used poor judgement and now they are learning a life lesson. Of course whoever posted this should be dealt with, but all female athletes will hopefully learn if you don't want your boobs posted online then don't let people take pictures of you topless. Sorry if this seems insensitive, but I have two daughters and when we talked about this last night they both said Wisconsin players should only blame themselves... maybe you and your daughters should mind your own business

Also, everyone clutching their pearls in this thread is vastly underestimating how many people their own kids (or spouses!) are sending naughty pictures to. I am 100% certain I have no kids or spouses sending out nude pics. godly, pls teach us your ways
