GG was wearing knee pads and participated in full warmups, she looked fine, coaching staff probably being cautious.
Match was awesome, I was about 30 feet behind the Badger bench for the 1st and 3rd sets. Will be going again whenever they're at Huff!

Crawford was yanked for the third for the same reason. Sheffield has to know that the team has two weeks to use that vaunted depth to get the team through the next four games healthy before you need the full strength team for those final three road matches that will decide the Big Ten and most likely whether the road back to the final four goes through The Dungeon or not.

www.jsonline.com/story/sports/college/uw/2022/11/04/wisconsin-volleyball-sweeps-illinois-extends-winning-streak-to-11/69617362007/'Junior middle blocker Caroline Crawford got banged up during the match and didn’t play the third set. That caused Sheffield to move Robinson to the middle and get junior Jade Demps into the rotation. “I think she’ll be fine. It’s Caroline Crawford, right,” Sheffield said. “But that is what depth is for. What message are you sending your team when you’ve got someone who is banged up and you keep them out there and you’ve got some healthy people on the bench.”' Hopefully "banged up" is what it sounds like and not serious.

I just looked at the video of CC's last time on the court, the three rotations around 20-17 or 22-18 of the second set. She looked very much OK, moving to her blocking spots, running her "routes", etc. The very last point on the court, she and Smrek (more so Smrek) had a block on Mosher. It was CC's turn to rotate back to serve when Demps came in to serve in her place. The set ended shortly after, and during that time CC was sitting on the bench between Izzy and Gary White; trainer Kristy Walker was down the bench in her usual spot, not 'working' on CC or otherwise seeming 'concerned' about her. (Adding, at the start of the third set, teams are already on the court etc., GG appears to make a point of going back across "the bench" to give/get a kiss on the cheek from Annemarie Hickey. If that's a regular thing, I have not noticed it before. :-)

If that's a regular thing, I have not noticed it before. :-) Curious about the number of subs Wisconsin had used early in that second set, I went back and watched earlier than the stuff I talked about above. And for Wisconsin fans there's some interesting stuff going on back there (sorry for cluttering up a game thread with it). The earliest unusual sub is Gregorski coming in to serve for Crawford, score 8-8. Not unusual in and of itself, but they had already done a serving sub, Boyer for Franklin. So that means by the time the go the usual 6-2 Izzy and Robinson back onto the court, they had used 8 subs in just the first time around the rotation. That's too many. Gregorski scored three point on her serve (yay Lizzo!) before getting sided out. But during those serves in the background: - during the first point CC was at the back of the sideline 'huddle' talking with trainer Kristy Walker. - during the second point Walker has gone forward and is telling Sheffield something. - during the third point CC is sitting on the bench while Demps is squatting down talking with Gary White and Dildine. - After doing the "MB for serving sub, libero for MB" dance, CC goes back to sitting on the bench, and for a time Walker is sitting next to her, in what is not Walker's usual spot. So even back then, something was clearly up with CC. But when it came time for her to rotate back in for the points I talked about above, she went back in. At no time is she limping or rubbing her wrist, or is Walker 'palpating' anything, etc. I wonder if she just wasn't feeling well (and let's hope it isn't the flu, or COVID). Fingers crossed for Sunday.

They did the replay twice and I noticed it the second time. It would have been her right ankle. They were looking at a ball on a challenge call maybe??? That’s all I have.

Maybe middle to late set 2??? I'll look later. I'm still drying out and warming up from sitting through sideways rain at Camp Randall. ----------------- I don't see anything...
