The UH fans who sit in the bottom row of the fan section have me rolling with laughter. I love that they have signs for Ham but also just making hilarious gestures and faces.

I’m happy for the win but did it feel a little anti climatic for anyone? Felt like Hawaii was in control almost the entire time and Amber wasn’t even as involved offensively. Really like what I’m seeing out of the team right now, especially defense out of right back. Ham or Lang it’s hard to put balls down against either of them.

All of set 1 and the beginning of sets 2 and 3 felt like it was tight, but the Wahine were able to pull away. The fact that Amber didn't have as many attempts as usual and Hawaii was able to pull it out feels amazing! The pins all did well. Brae has been playing awesome as of late. If Tiff could step up her game as well, we would finally have all positions playing well. But a great win for Hawaii last night.

Watched the game twice last night and again this morning since I enjoyed it so much for the play and coaching on both sides. Very impressed with the way Tyer is putting the Beach program together in such a short time. They can't help but be crazy good next year and in the future beyond.
Beach had a solid plan to slow Amber down and would have had the Wahine in trouble if the other ladies hadn't stepped up and cratered the holes LBSU left in their defense to cover Amber. The most obvious and opportunistic Wahine was Brae. Amber would hold the block for an extra count and give Brae the chance at moving or split blocks. I'm hoping Akana keeps improving in recognizing when blocks are set and waiting for her and avoid hitting directly into that setup. I think she was blocked 3X in that situation. Oh, and would it be over-stating to say Kate's play was impressive? Not just her setting, loved her attacks on 2.
LBSU shot themselves in the foot with all their service errors. Might have been a whole different match had they had a good night of serving. Not that LBSU didn't have some really tough serves. They just didn't keep enough of them in the court while UH did a very good job of managing their serve receive. But LBSU has mega talent! Not at all sure who comes back next year, but obviously, it's a young lineup. Is Morgan Chacon a senior?
Last comment I have...LOVED the new play put in for Brae that took advantage of Tiff or Amber pulling the block away as they feinted a slide while Brae crossed to the middle for the set. Don't know what it's called but I call it Fabulous! Makes defenses pay for paying too much attention to the UH slides. Will only open up more opportunities for Amber and Tiff...AND Brae.

Long Beach had a distinct advantage in blocks too. Not to be a detractor, but they have been running that middle play with Akana all season long. The only difference is that it worked last night and they went to her multiple times.

They've started setting Akana off the net on 2 instead of on the net. Its allowing Akana as a shorter hitter see the open space in the backcourt, but also a better view of how to tool the block. It's been looking much better.
Nohea Tano says hi. She was a great slide hitter from the right side, but could absolutely smack that high 2 set even at 5'10.
