DOM-CAN a huge match tomorrow. They'll play each other again later this month in the Olympic Qualifier.. but this is a chance for Canada to put DR on equal footing... or for DR to expand the gap in their lead over Canada and overtake Netherlands who passed them with their performance in the CEV's.
Winner of DOM-CAN will almost certainly face USA in the Finals with a real chance to gain world ranking points as well.

Just took a look at the world ranking table and France is now all the way up to 14th. That's pretty awesome. AND they are in next years VNL just in time to host their home Olympics.
I think I read somewhere that Kenya has already filled the CAVB continental quota by winning that continental championship.
Will both of them be in the same pool at Paris?
Isn't this years Olympic format kinda dumb? I don't recall it off the top of my head.

| 2nd ranked team | | 5th ranked team | 4th ranked team | 3rd ranked team | | 6th ranked team | 7th ranked team | 8th ranked team | | 11th ranked team | 10th ranked team | 9th ranked team |
So, 5th and 6th ranked teams would get the easiest draw (two free wins) |

I was looking at the schedule today and I hate that we face our three toughest opponents in our pool the final three days in a row.
8/16 vs. Colombia
8/17 vs. Thailand
8/19 vs. Slovenia
8/20 vs. Korea
8/22 vs. Italy
8/23 vs. Poland
8/24 vs. Germany
Thoughts?

So long as USA doesn’t get lulled into false confidence going into those last three, USA should be fine. The team sometimes plays to the level of competition, imo. But Italy is looking very good, as is Poland. And we all remember VNLs. |

Germany won't be too much of an issue with Orthmann out. Sucks for her and that team. Most of their best players are either retired from the NT or hurt. |

I’m with you. Surprising how Egonu is being utilized on the team right now. Thought the same as the other poster that Antropova was good to go now. We will see. All I know for sure is there is more good international volleyball ahead! |

but i don't see one for the actual competition. probably 95% of this board is gonna only care about the poland group anyways
