To me, Mazzanti arouses pity. He is undoubtedly a good man but he has unleashed something much bigger than himself and he ... has been overwhelmed and lost. Sadly, the players will be lost and Italy will fail another Olympics (not that we would have done much).
The hope is that after the Olympic qualifying tournament things will change. But, you know, Italians are good at self-destruction.... (If Armageddon happened, we would blow up the day before. So you are warned).

Well, they have OQT and 2024 VNL to improve their ranking. 2024 VNL will probably kill Korea again. Well, they have OQT and 2024 VNL to improve their ranking. or, the opposite, most likely I see that my sarcasm has gone unappreciated

Corriere dello Sport suggests that the issues with Egonu are not stemmed only from Mazzanti, but from the core italian group
They believe they can win without her and arent only dependent on her (LOL)
evidently issues stemmed when she left the team after the Brazil match/racism she suffered in 2022.
I dont know who the "core" group would be... It cant be Sylla or Orro... Is this something spearheaded by Danesi? lol

In other words, the bosses support Mazzanti.

The crumbling of Italy's women's national team is hard to watch.
The men's side is thriving with their youth and a coach who is fully invested in every player. Meanwhile, the women's best player is sidelined for reasons that change every other day. Also, I get Cate and Moki are "aging out" but they're experience and skills could greatly benefit this team in Paris. I mean, are you really going to throw all your hope behind Pietrini and Sylla? Love them both, but when they're bad... they're bad.[/b]
Is Fahr going to be healthy enough for Paris? Or has that spot on the national team been passed off to Squarcini or whoever decides to show up?

What the "Corriere dello Sport" reports is a rumor and does not refer to definite sources (99% is just to make noise).
As for the phrase "they can win without her," being Italian I don't know all the nuances of the verb "to can," but in Italian it can also mean "to have the chance," "to be able to," "to succeed at," and so it depends on the context and (and the opponent on the court, to be clear).
Anyway, yes, the situation is total crap.

Chirichella is a good girl however, it had been quite some time since she had any outstanding results. Against relatively weak teams she attacked and walled well, against stronger teams she did not. The competition is high. In theory there would be Fahr and Mazzarro competing for the MB role.

Fahr said she stopped this summer for fear of knee complications. Already by the end of the season she felt she was out of shape. With the national team she tried to see if they could get her to play anyway but Conegliano then vetoed it.
