Here is my tiering system for top teams going into Paris as of rn. Im gonna assume vargas is available for this tiering. Order within tier doesn't matter Tier 1 Gold Favorites Serbia and Turkey Tier 2 Gold Contenders USA, Italy, Brazil, China? Tier 3 Medal Contenders/Potential Bracket Busters DR, Poland, Japan LMK what you think or if you want reasons behind any of my tiering choices With Mazantti out and Egnou (and others) back to the NT, I would put Italy under tier 1.

Then I remembered Italy always flopped at the Olympics.. hmm then tier 2 it is.

I need to see them prove a bit more for me to put them in tier 1. They tend to choke. They had turkey all but beaten in euros up 2-1 and 20-16 in set 4 then fell apart

The NORCECA calendar is out for next season... I Don't see anything too newsworthy. norceca.net/Calendars/Calendar%202024.htmPuerto Rico is appealing Sports nationality rules to FIVB. They feel they're unfairly impacted by the current rules due to PR's relationship with the USA. (Personally, I think that's a fair argument by PR... it shouldnt be easier for a cuban to play for turkey/brazil/poland than a Puerto Rican to play for PR)

I'm really curious to see what China looks like with Zhu (and maybe ZCN if she comes back?) I don't think we've seen a full strength China at all this quad I dont want to see it lmfao Why not? haven't seen it since 2021 VNL.

Sport nationality is established at 14 years old. so basically PR players that are in the US, are more than likely going to get assigned USA sports nationality unless they specifically deny USA and go towards PR. Well, its more for PR they all count as "naturalized".... so they can only have Abercrombie, not Abercrombie and Prieto Cerame (for example). The nationalities of Lexie Almodovar and Nayeli Gonzales have been hot topics for Puerto Ricans... both have PR parents. PR wants flexibility with changing this (which I agree with)... its not fair to have Puerto Rican players not be able to play for PR because they're also American.

PR is trying to get awareness of the issues out to the volleyball population but that is obviously hard, esp outside of PR
