San Diego has stated their case. Good luck to Jen Petrie and co. What’s their rpi projected to be? Probably #7, possibly even #8. So it would be unprecedented for them to get a Top 4 seed. Not sure if UCLA/Utah finishing T50 in unadjusted RPI would be difference makers of a spot/2 in RPI or not.

You can't discount how difficult it is to win as a visitor at Smith Fieldhouse. San Diego played a great match. Hopefully they maintain this same form going into the tournament.

Also can’t believe San Diego hasnt been seeded since 2013? IMO They should've been seeded in 2016 but the committee gave the 16th seed to a Penn State team that was like 22nd in RPI...

Disagreeing with someone's logic doesn't make their logic illogical. Imagine walking through the world and being like "Oh, I disagree with you, ergo you are ~* mentally frail *~." Btw, I also think it's a stupid narrative bc the post-season is what determines the best conference. But it is an illogical argument to say the best conference should automatically get a top 4 seed. Each team's resume is evaluated individually. This isn't the United Nations Security Council where the Big Ten gets a guaranteed permanent seat. You're misusing illogical again in the exact same way. Just because you vehemently disagree with someone doesn't make their reasoning illogical.

I hope San Diego haters watched this match. This is a GOOD team. I saw them play early in the season and they have a lot of size and fire power. All the pieces are there to make a deep run.

I understand the agenda to talk broadly about volleyball and hype up the tournament because it’s on ESPNU rn. But man, if I’m a BYU or USD fan I would have been so annoyed with the announcers discussing and focusing on other schools while there was a very good game going on currently!

Sometimes I think about how Utah came here and absolutely destroyed BYU in the 2nd round in 2019 lmao Honestly was heartbreaking to see Utah drop the 5 setter at Stanford the weekend after that performance and I don't have any affinity for the Utes.

Provo is always a tough place to play, so props to San Diego for pulling out the win. Blossom should be the WCC POY and a 1st team AA. She's incredible.
I know Petrie has mentioned throughout the years that she wants San Diego to get to the Elite 8 for the 1st time, and I think this is San Diego's best shot. They could potentially go even further. I'm really excited for them and I hope they get a favorable bracket.

There is some logic to the idea that if your sixth best team is ranked #17 in the country versus another conferences with their sixth best team having no chance at making the tourney, your championship is harder to come by, and you're likely a top team given your ability to win against some of the best. I don't like the reasoning per se, but it's not as if the logic doesn't exist.

Glad San Diego got the win but credit BYU they played well and really showed they are a strong team tonight not enough but it was a sting showing from them to make it interesting
