Orzol, the portal is waiting babes and take Wrobel with you! Not me literally forgetting she was still on the roster. Girl, ya buried. Get outta there.

My theory - either TTA or Franklin get a long look at opposite. Remember, Devyn Robinson can also play middle, so opposite doesn't even need to be crowded with that look. There are 7 quality players competing for 5-6 hitting roles and I think any given one of them could be the odd woman out - or if any of them get injured, there's the ability to play the other 6.
That being said, Texas seemed to do well with the two-thumper OH combo last year, so a TTA/Frank left-side combo is also a reasonable solution. Sure, Texas had Fleck, but all the GG haters can please point me to the freshman libero with passing stats better than her (there might be one, but I certainly don't know who it is). She will improve.
As for Orzol/Wrobel ... yeah, if they think they can play this fall and that is their priority, they should transfer out (though I hope they don't). But Sheffield actually has freshmen coming in next year and will probably take a year break from the portal (assuming no one leaves) so they will have their shot. Just like this year they will have their shot at being on a team that wins a national championship.
(the shot being 'a shot at a national championship' - and no more - in case that sentence comes off wrong. UW '23 is not UT '22.)

(Emma halter- Texas, Whitworth- Kentucky, Dacosta - Baylor, & Morton - Auburn) were all freshman Liberos/ Ds’s with less experience than GG & were still better passers. You should watch more volleyball if you think GG was the best passing freshman libero last year.

Totally forgot about her, she was really solid too while taking a lot of court.

How much would the board lose it if Gomillion ended up a Badger

The challenge was partly because I was interested in seeing who people came up with. (Thanks!!) That being said, I am embarrassed that I didn't immediately think of Halter who was really impressive to me as a freshman. But you named 4 (plus a fifth in a reply). I feel comfortable with GG being 5th 6th ranked among passing freshmen if that's really the number. And she honestly was a better passer on the year overall, but passed poorly against Florida and Pitt; maybe that pattern will continue but I am willing to take the risk.

Reading this thread makes me think Badger fans are counting their weasel chick's before their hatched. And it's not even the Wisconsin thread.

I can't begin to imagine how hard it must be to: 1. Move from Istanbul, Turkey to Madison, WI at age 18; 2. Enroll in a Big Ten university with 35,800 other undergraduates; 3. Carry a qualifying class load while dealing with English as a second language; 4. Start playing volleyball for the defending NCAA National Champions; 5. Be expected to fill the shoes of Lauren Barnes; 6. Start at libero from Day 1; 7. Play week in and week out against some of the toughest competition and face some of the toughest crowds in the country; 8. Have a big target on the front of your jersey every game; 9. Rise to the challenge more often than not and help your team to a 4th consecutive Big Ten title and a near miss at a Final Four; 10. Tell your coach after the season that "I need to be more stable for our team" and set out to do it. 11. Smile all the while.
Sometimes we fans are just effing ridiculous. No perspective, just an incurable case of one-upsmanship and "I gotcha". Sad.
Go Badgers.

Lol I genuinely have zero doubt that TTA will be a starter in the front row, some of y’all are tripping. She’s terminal af and can clean up just about any mess of a set. It would take some serious underperforming/lack of connection with their setters for me to see a season without her as one of the left sides. It doesn’t matter if Wisconsin did or didn’t “need” her, any team in the country should have wanted her at least as a 3 rotation pin hitter for good reason.
