“I have no comment about the injury” *immediately comments on the injury and its implications* by no comment on the injury I mean I don't know the extent of it, I don't know what steps were taken to correct it, and I don't know if and how the injury is still bothering her. What I DO know is that I've played volleyball long enough to know that blaming a knee injury for wildly inaccurate ball location or doubling the ball sounds farfetched. And, more importantly, IF her knee still actually is the reason for the poor setting (again, I do not know), maybe she shouldn't be playing? There's a lot you don't know and don't appear to be bothered by your lack of knowledge.

I'd say that's probably true for most people on this planet, what's your point?

No, but unlike ay2013, I don't preface negative comments by stating I don't know. And obviously ay2013 isn't bothered by his/her/zer ignorance, actually seems to revel in it. I have never had to recover from a torn ACL, but do know 2 people that did, but never fully recovered to their pre-injury self. Orr was known for her mobility as a setter before her injury. She just had follow up surgery in the spring of 2022. Very likely her setting was disrupted by her knee injury. Her doubles occurring because her timing was off. She made progress in 2022. I am very hopefull she can make further progress in 2023 so that she can be the starting setter.

I agree she made progress in 2022 and I wish her (all atheletes) a healthy recovery from injury and to play to their fullest potential. What, exactly, am I "reveling" in? I'm also not sure which of my comments on this you perceive as "negative", but that's on you.

How can someone be bothered by not having specific knowledge if they don't have it, and presumably don't know they lack it? I can't tell if you're waxing philosophical or if some words don't mean the things you think they mean. I'm gonna go with the second one.

I found this topic interesting as I have first hand experience in this matter. I was a former setter who had injured my knee 3x during the course of my career. Even though my hands weren’t injured and I still understood where I wanted to put the ball, the fact that my knee was injured or coming back from injury really affected me mentally. It felt like I couldn’t trust my base and jump setting, spin setting, pursuing errant passes and setting OOS became tougher than usual. Even timing my square was more difficult. We ran a fast offense so putting my team back in system when the passes were bad was paramount. I’m not trying to argue Ay’s point because it was more a matter of my mentality coming back from injury. So if this is the case with Kennedi and I believe she’s under a lot more pressure than I was playing for a perennial power like Nebraska, then I can understand and sympathize with her.

Great perspective, and it kind of gets to what I’m saying. I’d never want to comment on the mental state of a player coming back from injury mixed in with the expectations of a program like Nebraska, which is why I didn’t.

wait whoa hold on, this is bigger than I think most people realize. she’s really underrated imo. she impressed me a lot at Georgia before moving to LMU and putting up AMAZING numbers there.
