No. Evans got a scholarship well before Caffey left. Oop! I saw it during the pre-season and thought it had just happened hence why it was being shown on television. Please don’t say “hence why.” Just hence.

This is extremely false and is a disappointing narrative if Caffey's mom is saying that. There's a video online of Evans receiving Caffey's scholarship after she went to Texas. No. Evans got a scholarship well before Caffey left. From memory of what was said at the time (I'm not searching back to verify), Caffey was there but no longer on scholarship in the Spring. Because somebody else (Evans?) assumed her scholarship in the Spring, to bring Caffey back in the fall on scholarship after not being on scholarship in the Spring would incur a penalty and would cost 2 scholarships in the fall and Cook decided not to do that. It's an odd situation and Cook may not have understood the ramifications initially, which would explain the confusion translating it to Caffey. I have no personal knowledge of this at all, but that is what was reported back at the time from someone who seemed to know and it made the most sense. Feel free to correct this if somebody has direct knowledge.

IMO, if Anni Evans had been 2-3" taller she would have been running a 5-1 system this year at NE. However, her 5'9" height created front line liabilities.
She decommited from a Colorado State scholarship offer, to walk-on at NE. NE scholarships are fully committed starting this January, so it makes sense she is entering the transfer portal.
Wish her the best. She is a good setter, a very hard worker, and a great person.

Evans was awarded the 'ship in April but they made it retroactive to January (which I had no idea was allowed). I recall Cook stating that they had to work extremely hard to get that scholarship (vacated by Meyer) back.

All I know is that someone needs to tell Madi that she needs to put her hair back in the ponytail (like Logan's) and ditch the bun; that ain't it for the post-season. Dance with the one who brung you! It worked for Haley Eckerman in 2012! lmao

Just always assumed she had a scholarship offer at CSU. She always played with a lot of poise and confidence.

Evans was a walk on and had a ONE semester scholarship last spring after winning the elite 90 award at the final four. Her scholarship had nothing to do with Caffey. Kaylynn Meyer left VB to focus on track and Rylee Gray medically retired, thus leaving two scholarships unfulfilled in the spring.

Florida’s non-related Hendrickson players are both in the portal Freshman Carly Hendrickson is in the portal? Is this confirmed? Her IG post definitely alludes to it being true.

Thanks for balling out when we needed you, Anni! Good luck in the portal. Get that full ride, girl. You deserve it.

While I wasn’t ever super impressed with Birdie in her limited opportunities, she seems like a great team player and brings a ton of energy to the court.
