Basically: Caffey leaves, opens a scholly. Evans gets it for the year. But all 12 are taken for next year. Next year is a long way away. Somebody might fall out of a window, as they say in Russia. |

Not that it matters for this conversation, but there were allegations in a Facebook group (from Caffey’s mom) that Nebraska was serving a penalty for awarding 13 scholarships in a prior year. They chose to take the penalty for this fall instead of next fall which is why there wasn’t one for Caffey and also would mean Evans wasn’t on one unless baby Kubik isn’t on a full package. Disclaimer: I was on VT WAY too much the week the tournament started 😅 |

If Caffey stayed at Nebraska, they would have to suffer the penalty (which would be for this fall) and Caffey wouldn't have one (since Nebraska had the penalty)... it would've had to been covered via NIL... Since Caffey left, Nebraska wasn't punished because they didnt exceed the limit with her "gone". |

I thought Evans got one of the middles that left the team in the spring, Meyer or Rylee Gray.. bc it was in the spring when Caffey was still there?

Wow. I imagine it is hard to accept you're good enough to play (and take all the pressure and criticism from Monday morning setters like myself) but not get a scholarship. We desperately needed her this season. I hope Evans finds a program that gives her everything she is looking for if she does leave.
