Okay serious question for Texas fans: Are we going to ride this starting lineup the whole tournament? Even if they aren't producing as they normally do or are we going to get Kahahawai, Ewert, Parra, and Bergmark some playing time even if it's the last set? Personally I want to ride the starting lineup we have been going with, but I am always nervous that someone won't be on and we're gonna need to go to the bench either for a serve, blocking sub, passing/ds, or an offensive spark. No disrespect to Fairfield Dickinson, but I think that this is the game and maybe the 2nd round to get some other players some court time before regionals I think you're going to get the same starters every set, even if we're headed for a sweep. Single elimination ain't the time to be playing around, plus JE is very consistent in the way he coaches and his preparation for harder matches. The subs are likely to be the usual suspects- dub sub with Devin and Ewert late in sets to close it out and have Devin provide a bigger block, etc etc. If JE decides to get creative, it is likely to be with the starting players IMO. Like Asjia moving to right back defense when she serves (I'm still campaigning for an ONeal back row attack y'all), keeping both Logan and Skinner on for 6 if we're comfortably ahead, new routes, maybe a combo play or two. IMO it's going to be all about preparing for the later rounds

I usually go by what players themselves use on their personal sites. On her Instagram site, she spells it with a "c" and not a "č". There are some sites on the web that use a "č", but they may just be trying to avoid nannybot filters like Volleytalk uses. It's because she's Italian, but she's of Slovenian origin. Her father Gregor is a former Slovenian basketball player, naturalized Italian (he played for Italy NT too). The correct Slovenian spelling of her family name is Fu čka (pronounced like "foochka"). Italian alphabet doesn't have the "č" letter, so, since she was born and raised in Italy, her name in Italian is spelled with the "c". Thanks for the explanation. Although, like I say, when people spell their own name a certain way, I usually assume that is the way they want it spelled, even if another way is "correct". But your explanation gave some good context.

Over/under on FDU scoring 15.5 pts in any set? Over/under on 10.5 Texas blocks? Over/under on 80 min match length?

I know last year, she was absolutely dominated by Smrek because of the height disadvantage. If Molly ends up cold on offense and/or getting tooled by another teams outside a lot, I wouldn’t mind letting Devin see the court for a few points. Every time she’s come in recently, she’s looked more than comfortable, especially blocking. If the next set Molly is still struggling, then Parra lineup with Skinner holding down the right side block. I don’t think I want any other subs unless Skinner is playing National-Championship-Paulina-Prieto-Cerame bad. Then I would want to see Parra for her.

I rewatched the Minnesota game the other day and was pleasantly surprised by Bergmarks contribution. She had almost a handful of blocks and looked really good to me. Obviously that was a long time ago but if Caffey starts to struggle I really hope they go to her and she’s able to deliver.

While FD is among the lower qualifiers, they're still a team that made it into the tournament. So I expect decent play from them. I don't know how you get half a block or half a point, but to make it interesting I'll round it up: Over 16 on at least one set Over 80 min match length over 11 Texas blocks (least confident in this one, but speaking into existence)

Why is UT sports asking us to buy tickets to give to students to fill the gym? Can UT Sports not just give the tickets directly to the students or is that a sin against the Religion of Making Every Last Nickel Possible? This nickel and dime stuff from a rich university is annoying.

For example, setting the line at 15.5 points means there is no result that would be a push (tie). If the line is 16, then a result of 16 would be a push (no one wins).

Obviously not a sports better. But I'll still take the over on all 3

I don't know how you get half a block or half a point in box scores, each player getting a "block assist" is credited with 0.5 blocks. Sometimes there are "triple blocks" where all 3 front row players are credited with a block assist on a point. Thus there ends up being extra 0.5 blocks. It is really dumb that each triple block yields "1.5" blocks. They should figure out a better way to record that. of course all this is tangental, as stevehorn gave the explanation as to why half points are used in betting situations like this. all sports betting is degenerate activity anyway.

I think posting on volleyball message boards excessively is degenerate activity. Personally I’m so glad there’s so many of us degenerates.

I didn't say I wasn't a degenerate, lol. For the avoidance of doubt, I want a full 11 times the ball touches the floor (in bounds, on FD's side of the net) as a result of permissible, error-free blocking activity, regardless of number of block participants.

I really believe if Chi wasn’t out this season we would’ve won that natty😭 she would’ve helped neutralize Inky wayyyy more, and they could’ve made Cerame/YBG sub a half a set earlier
