I agree. I feel confident in any of the subs off the bench to make an impact. I just hope that JE doesn’t wait until it’s TOO LATE ya know? Maybe a set and a half in the first and second rounds, but once we get to regionals and beyond I feel like at this point in the season you trust your starters, but know when to take them out and give them a set rest to gather themselves again. He said in his Longhorn Weekly radio show comments he told the subs be prepared to come in and get the last point or two the way they have all season. That's probably where you'll see the bench play a factor. I don't see the bench starting the third set, even against Fairleigh Dickinson, the way we've seen in some other matches. Other than bringing in Parra, I'm not sure what sub I'd want to see. I don't really want Bergmark subbing for Caffey or O'Neal. If there are problems in the middle, it's more likely it's because of poor passing and/or setting. At this point I don't want Ewert coming in for SKT. That sounds like a panic move, and I feel will be interpreted that way by the team. That's how I would feel about it if I was a player. I don't want Fleck pulled. Phillips is what she is. You can't pull her for not terminating out of system, because that's not what she's expected to do anyway. If she gets the ball in system I expect her to take care of it just fine. I also don't see her being pulled for Kahahawei for blocking purposes. That really leaves Halter/Akana/Eggleston/Skinner. I don't want to see Eggleston off the floor for any reason. So maybe Parra for any of the others, especially in the back row. Don't see any other subs that get me excited. And I really like the serve of Akana/Eggleston/Skinner, so I don't know that I want Parra even coming in as a serving specialist for any of them. Which subs would you like to see if the team is struggling? I could see Bergmark coming in if caffey’s block is lacking a little bit. Also I could see Parra coming in in RO 1 for Molly on the left if it’s not working. I wouldn’t mind see Kahahawai blocking and Akana setting in RO 6 or Parra coming in to serve for O’Neal just to keep her serve warm as it was consistent at West Virginia |

Over/under on FDU scoring 15.5 pts in any set? Over/under on 10.5 Texas blocks? Over/under on 80 min match length? While FD is among the lower qualifiers, they're still a team that made it into the tournament. So I expect decent play from them. I don't know how you get half a block or half a point, but to make it interesting I'll round it up: Over 16 on at least one set Over 80 min match length over 11 Texas blocks (least confident in this one, but speaking into existence) Over/under as in betting wagers. Ex. betting the 'under' on pts means you think FDU will score 0-15 pts; betting the 'over' means they'd score 16-25+. But of course we're not actually betting so your example works too. Every publication I've seen covering the tournament talks about how every match will be on ESPN+ and the matches in Austin will be on LHN. I guess I could be wrong, but there would be a lot of places that should know their business that would be wrong right along with me. |
