I think those who are transferring as undergraduates would want to take care of admissions early so they could play the second semester. The question is complicated for graduate transfers. Those who are transferring as having graduated may need the second semester to finish their undergraduate coursework. Most school require a certain number of hours at the school immediately preceding graduation in order to graduate. If they were graduated at the end of the current semester theoretically they could transfer into Illinois starting the second semester. I went to law school, beginning as a new student starting second semester was not an option, at least when I started law school, but that was 50 years ago so I really don't know. I also don't know about other graduate programs. I suppose they could take graduate level courses or courses needed before they could start their chosen graduate program. If they took a semester off could they practice with the team? Participate in open workouts not under the supervision of a coach? Undergrads would probably want to get in early 2023 so they could practice & play in the spring. Do we know if any of our 2023's are coming in early?

Both Barry and TdB (coining this as shorthand for Taylor de Boer) are reported to be enrolling in January.

This is a bit off topic at this time of the NCAA volleyball championship, however, I wanted to share with fans what our second year football head coach Bielema had to say when talking about what he was given one year when he and the Wisconsin football team were headed to a bowl game. He said he was given a toothbrush. The current NCAA allowable gift total given per player by a bowl participant is $400. He expects Illinois' AD, Josh Whitman, will extend the maximum to the Fighting Illini football players participating in the Reliaquest Bowl in Tampa Florida, Jan. 2, 2023. Already looking forward to next season's Illini volleyball team!

As we sit on pins and needles waiting for transfer news we should remember our three most notable transfers in in recent years have been Fleming, Nunge and Burbage. Each announced transfer was during the summer.

Oh no! There is a thread on Jordan Poulter getting seriously injured in Italy last week. Sounds like an ACL tear. Wishing her a speedy recovery

Looking at the roster and thinking about transfers, what does everyone think the number of open scholarships is: 1 or 2?

Illinois grad programs are darned good, and the program has just suffered some bad injury luck! They will find people.

Tremendous win for San Diego on Stanford's home floor. Coach Reft is a winner! As nice as it would have been to have him continue at Illinois coaching with his good friend, Chris Tamas, Alfie is where he belongs! Go Toreros!

I haven’t had time yet to watch their win over Stanford, but the Toreros looked *really* good against Kentucky—and the Wildcats are no slouches.

Maybe Tamas can bring him back for a one week passing and defense seminar this Spring.

So much suspense and clutch play. Highly recommend.
