Y'all are #33 in NCAA Figstats modified RPI (incorporating bonuses and penalties); it is the closest metric to the Selection Committee's manner of choosing for the tournament. Your opponent tomorrow is 35th. Historically, the cut off number for getting in is 39-42...what with so many AQs. Means UDub needs to win the rest of its favored matches.

Yeah, top to bottom, there really is no comparison between what K Cook started with and what Tui has now. And yet I am seeing steady improvement. Just as important, it looks like the team is cohesive and having fun together. As others have pointed out, Tui's courtside demeanor is also refreshing. Her smile lights up the arena. Wonder where Keegan would be right now if Tui had decided to accept the opportunity to take over from Jim? Have to believe Tui would have also been successful and would still be the head coach. Very easy to believe that Tui would have been at least as successful as Keegan. She had more experience as an assistant coach and knows the game from a player's perspective. And if for some reason you think Keegan is a better coach, he still would have been at UW as her assistant in the same way Tui was here for him.

I don't think the second half of your post would be true... based on how he interviewed for USC, Texas A&M, and now Minnesota even as a HC.

I didn't mean to imply that Keegan would be an assistant at UW permanently. The interviews you mention probably would not have been available to him if he wasn't already the Husky head coach.

Any word on Pertofsky's status?
A poster suggested it was a "minor" injury, but this is dragging on. UW is in desperate need of another terminator.

The Huskies have eight conference matches left. We can pencil in two losses to Stanford and Wazzu. The Huskies have a fighting chance or better in the other six. I'm no bracketologist, but it seems like if they can win four of those six, they are 17-14 for the season and probably on the bubble but have a decent shot at the tournament. Three of the six and they end up 16-15 overall and it gets very tenuous. Any worse and we've got a losing record and the season is done.
Best shots to get four or more victories: Arizona at home, Colorado and Cal away, and at least one of Utah away or USC or UCLA at home.

Much depends on the return of a healthy Pertofsky. I have no insight into when or whether that will happen.

Latest RPI Futures has UW at #66.
Short of a strong finish and an upset of Stanford, I'm not seeing a path to the tournament.
I'm expecting someone to start a "Washington 2024" thread any day now.

A "strong finish" would be going 5-3 in these last 8 matches. That just might do it. Four wins and we could use some luck. I don't think a victory over Stanford (or WSU) is a prerequisite.

1-1 for the Cal-Stanford trip. Still on track.
Interesting to see the coaches use different line-ups for each match this weekend. Maybe they are trying to get the best match up against the strengths/weakness of the other team, or trying to find the magic that will maximize the skills on the roster. Main quandary seems to be finding that 3rd reliable passer and having good side-out options in all rotations. Either way, this group of players seems to be willing to adopt different roles, so I don't hate it.
What line-up would you put out there if you were the coaching staff?

I didn't see the Stanford match so I can't comment on the how the switch to the 6-2 and Pertofsky back to what I presume was her OPP position worked out this afternoon. It is, however, a little baffling to see the 6-2 after such a long time with Wilson at setter. Hani didn't have a great game and hasn't been particularly effective for the last month so I'm not sure moving Pertofsky from middle to OPP is a great move.
If I'm the coach, I'd probably go with the lineup that beat Cal -- the Huskies have outblocked almost no one this season but they did so against Cal and that helped wake the team up. I think the Huskies have a realistic shot at beating both LA schools but they'll need strong efforts in both matches.

Perhaps some of the thinking was that the Stanford match was probably unwinnable anyway, but it was a chance to stress-test the 6-2 and see where the holes are?

Perhaps some of the thinking was that the Stanford match was probably unwinnable anyway, but it was a chance to stress-test the 6-2 and see where the holes are? Yes, the same thought occurred to me. The coaching staff searching for answers. I have mixed feelings if that is the case given how late it is in the season. But I'm going to go with trust and conclude that the staff knows what it is doing.
