I either see this being really competitive or kentucky getting blown out. my biggest worry for kentucky is they'll need to create their own energy there. they have great on court energy when things are going well for them, memorial coliseum draws a great crowd for when their at home, but they've looked really flat at other times at away gyms. rooting for kentucky but I see this match as 50/50

I honestly don’t think Kentucky has the passing or blocking to keep up. They may try to hang in a shootout for a little bit, but SD will pull away. SD in 4, but not really sweating out the potential of a 5th set.

Bell and Whitworth have been huge parts of that.
I actually don't know if SD has the servers to really test UK's passing, but I worry that SD can beat UK at their own game -- offensive efficiency and transition game.

SD in 4, but not really sweating out the potential of a 5th set. bell, tealer, and Rutherford are all pretty strong blockers tbh. San Diego isnt really a uniquely tough serving team, kentucky has been under more serve pressure this year than they likely will be in this match. Rutherford has taken over matches so she will get lots of respect as well as tealer hitting majority of her attacks from the right pin. this could open up a lot for Kentuckys OHs, specifically when blossom is front row if the middles are constantly worried ab the attackers going behind and are late to close. lamb and Rollins are big swings out there, question is if they can stay consistent. if kentucky can keep grome infront of the 10 ft line San Diego is gonna have some serious arms to stop. i remember San Diego having a lot of trouble with aiko jones from Louisville who can be up and down, but for you consistent San Diego watchers, how have they done in defending elite right side attackers? I thought of Londot playing them but she's unreliable cause she can destroy anyone and also destroy herself. im sure they have trouble with OHs when blossom is front row but im curious how they defend the right side since kentucky can do a lot from there

one interesting stat is san diego is the only team in the country that ranks top10 in hitting% and opp hitting% and to boot they are also top10 in blocks per set with Blackwell leading the way at 1.50 rejections per frame

I don't think people realize we actually led the SEC in blocking over conference play. Now, will it be good enough against USD? We'll see.

Please not P. Sunderland on the call. He will start talking about how great BYU is and wonder why they are not the ones who should be in the match. I wonder how many times he will wonder why Livingston of BYU is not hitting for a higher percentage.
Most likely he will be promoting KY the whole match and we will hear ad nauseum about the great run to the title from two years ago. I watch most VB broadcast muted anyways, so will have to do the same on this match. Toreros in 4. They win the net battle and the serve and pass game.

USD dropped a set to WSU, and is coming off the relatively easy competition of the WCC, whereas Kentucky has had harder opponents and definitely been more battle tested. I really don't see how Kentucky loses this match. Kentucky 3-1 If you can't imagine a way Kentucky loses this match, then you honestly don't much about volleyball. Even the biggest SEC homer in history could see that SD has the capability to beat Kentucky, even in straight sets. I'm not saying that will happen, but even Massey thinks Kentucky loses 1 in 3 times (I think this is more 50/50 but whatever)

Not a fan of Sunderland, in his last match between BYU and USD, all he could talk about was BYU and Livingston, even though USD won in 4, Edwards, Frohling and Lukes (WCC Player of the Year) were an afterthought
I'm sure it will be the same with Kentucky
