I know that they were one of the most dominating teams to ever play, but I also wonder why they didn't play Haneef and Weaver more. Was it because they didn't want to mess up chemistry, or was it because Weaver and Haneef were not nearly as good as they were in 99-01? I just find it surprising that they wouldn't get more PT considering how talented they were when they graduated.

Haneef never seemed "ready" until late in her junior year and into her senior year.

I forgot that foreign chick's name...Anna Grinkalova-Hamelova, something. Blondish. Does anyone think she played much better in 1995 and 1996 than 1998? And Melissa Ohta looks so much different now than back then.

It's coming back...Anka Grabovac...or something.
(I loved the fact that the last "c" in "Grabovac" was silent.)

And Melissa Ohta looks so much different now than back then. She was never blondish, she was and still is a brunette, blew out her knee her freshman year and had problems with it off an on her entire career. 4.0 student, great young lady, and played very well for us but never ever realized her full potential because of the nagging knee!

I also liked that other gal, the one from Esperanza High School, the one who hit those monster shots from the back row but eventually played DS. God, what's her name?! I keep forgetting names recently. She had such an intense face. Never saw her smile but I loved watching her play. She could kill anyone in a dark alley.

From my memory, she was always blonde. But you're probably right. You saw her more than I did.

Actually, I liked that entire 98 team. There was that flashy show-offy setter, what's her name? Missy something. Minnie? Well, whatever... She was cool, too.

Simply put as done by Volleyball Magazine, she was the "Best Ever" ;D That team was very exciting to watch, it was incredible to watch because when Misty was in the front row her hitters would get one on one almost all of the time. I think the 1998 season for Misty May was the most impressive individuals season by a player in NCAA history. She carried her team through game 5 in the championship, and took over in the NCAA's by shattering the aces record, winning 18-20 games, and getting a triple double in the semi's and getting a near triple double in the finals(one kill shy). She was the best defensive player on her team, best hitter on her team, best server on her team, and the greatest setter of all time.I don't think anybody has had an all-around game quite like that. IMO, she is the best college player ever.
