It's bizarre seeing "Junior" next to Whitney, Lexi, Kennedi, Ally and Lindsay.

I am confident with Rodriguez and Choboy keeping the defense afloat next year. So my biggest hope is Reilly is amazing and gets us back to hitting .270+
If the setting sucks again we need a new setting coach

I just want to see the quick dink to the middle die.
It's awful and doesn't work for a P5 team.

We need some offensive firepower. Last two years have been weird with Huskers winning serve-pass and still losing matches.

I'm sorry for the team but the 2022 season was never meant to be from the moment we saw Orr's early struggles. Banking on an impact player with so much hype coming in and taking over can be risky. Kennedi is not the same player, neither physically nor mentally, that she was prior to her injury and I think the staff shares some of the fault in how they handled her journey back in terms of confidence and training, but at the end of the day she just couldn't meet the moment when she had chances out there. Nicklin was out for a good while, Kennedi had ample opportunity to run away with it. I feel for Evans a bit because yeah this wasn't really a responsibility you would expect a walk-on to have to manage, but at the same time if you join the team and train every day it's because you want to compete and feel you can be good enough to get on the court so I don't see why her level of play shouldn't be scrutinized like others'. Nicklin struggled with a lingering back injury since before the season began, along with other health issues that she's publicly discussed, and I just don't think she was in a physical state where she could comfortably run a 5-1 this year which to me was a big factor in why it never happened considering the deficit in points when she was off the court. I am going to really miss seeing her make some insane defensive plays look routine back there and her fight.
Madi was/is a passing rock, she really helped this team avoid total catastrophe this year by taking so many balls in serve receive and being one of the best pins in the entire nation statistically in that area. That said, she didn't have the offensive season we would've loved to have seen from her during her last campaign as a Husker and unfortunately there were a lot of crunch time moments she'd want back.
Lexi was fantastic. She had a handful matches where her defense wasn't up to her standard, but overall she remained great in that area. Her passing was *elite* and her setting was exceptional. I could see her having an even bigger role to play next year without Madi.
So excited to see what Krause can do with better setting. She really transformed in the last 1/3 of the season into a reliable scorer and she bleeds Husker.
Batenhorst, I thought, showed off some of Nebraska's 6 ro. training the past two weeks. Was she Knuckles back there? No. But she held her own and I think she moves well for her height. She obviously had lots of ups and downs offensively, it sorta feels like we're waiting on it to just click for her one of these days and she seems on the verge at times. Can be incredibly frustrating at times
Whitney was a roller coaster. High highs, low lows. Her blocking was something I missed from some past Husker teams, that was her most consistent contribution, along with her serve which turned out to be quite lethal.
I'm sorry we couldn't get a better connection going with Hord really ever. I don't think she did enough on her end to adjust and it just never came together. Probably not the season production she expected from herself but I know she's happy regardless that she chose Nebraska and I loved seeing her stuff so many players all season long.
Allick looked like a true freshman out there to me. Moments of amazing potential, really quick arm swing. Needs to really work on blocking and making some smarter choices in scramble pressure plays.
So so sorry for Kenzie that her career ended this way. She deserved so much better than this injury and the timing was truly awful. One of the best middle back defenders in the country and I'll miss getting to see her steal kills from lots of hitters.
I'll post later on about my hopes/excitement for the 2023 season. Until then, #GBR

Home regional or bust 😁 (since I most likely won't have option of attending anymore post season games unless they're ones we host. Or maybe the KC final four).

At some point, in John's Cook "tell-al" book, I want the real reason we never even entertained the 5-1 with Nicklin this year. There must have been things behind the scenes that we don't know about. Frankly this whole season feels like a bunch of stuff happened that we don't know about and everyone was just trying their best.

I dont think its a secret that Nicklin's injury hurt her ability to jump. (and affected her blocking) but is her setting enough to offset that? I dont know. (Cook didnt think so)

Definitely some things I would like to forget about this season but also some moments to remember. Whitney's performance against Creighton, Bekka at Purdue, Kaitlin's blocking, Lexi being Lexi, and the whole team showing the level of play they were capable of together during the middle of the season (and those first sets at Ohio State). And most of all seeing Madi, Kenzie, and Nicklin play for one final year together, can't believe today was last time I will see them in the Husker uniform. GBR <3

At what point do we start talking about the setting coach? Even their "good" sets are moon balls, and I can't think of a team with worse connections to the middles. ... But there is absolutely nothing wrong with this team that good setting won't fix.
