You guys are desperate for drama. Just stop. LOL Who felt the need to issue a clarification? And take a swipe at his recruiter. Nebraska is drama in a bottle.

Kelsey Robinson predated Holman. And Lauren Cook before her. And Sydney Anderson was even before that. Holman was different. She was denied the waiver by her school, and had to sit out a year. Nebraska lost it's sh*t. 38 players had transferred in 2014 between schools in the top 7 conferences and not a single one of them had been denied the immediate eligibility.

Texas didn't invent the model. They had to do it because they lost so many players. Nebraska has attracted 1 or 2 quality transfers from time to time for 15-20 years? It is not foregoing loyalty to players. Cook tells every recruit that part of his job as coach is to find someone better than them. It is their job to prove that they are better. You act like you have never played competitive sports. From Little League thru college, what good team have you ever played on that didn't change from year to year as backups became better and new players made the team. When somebody beat you out of a position did you go crying to whomever would listen that the coach was disloyal? I truly doubt that you know what Cook will do or when he will walk away. lol I'm familiar with Nebraska's transfer history. Does the name Briana Holman ring a bell? That was before the existence of the transfer portal, and the immediate eligibility, but you can start there to understand how Cook's philosophy has evolved. Do the names Kelsey Robinson and Mary Pollmiller ring a bell? I understand his philosophy and it has always been that he owes the other players on the team and the fans the best team he can put on the floor. It is actually his job and what he is payed for.

So Holman decided to win a national championship during the year she wouldn't have been around for if she got the waiver. The end.
Edit: jinx!

Holman was different. She was denied the waiver by her school, and had to sit out a year. Nebraska lost it's sh*t. 38 players had transferred in 2014 between schools in the top 7 conferences and not a single one of them had been denied the immediate eligibility. Back then, schools did deny transfers on a fairly consistent basis, and I'm not sure those stats would reflect that since the transfer didn't actually take place. Schools also denied transfers on a conditional basis, for example, not within conference or not to specific schools. Holman's tranfer to Nebraska was denied by the coach/school for a specific reason. Whether or not it was fair or right was hotly debated at the time, but it also set off a larger discussion about the right and ability of student-athletes to transfer freely, which eventually led to the situation we have now.
