San Diego was so impressive and surgical last night picking apart KY. We'll see if Stanford can hold together or if their inconsistencies and another slow start will ultimately doom them.

Kipp's numbers in the tournament so far are insane...

I was incredibly impressed with San Diego last night. I wish them and Louisville could both make it to the final!

Rooting for San Diego. Nothing against Stanford, whom I also like, but I've been rooting hard for San Diego all season. I think they're a great story. My perspective is Stanford has every piece back pretty much for a run next year, and might very well be the favorites going into the season. I'd like to see San Diego, Gabby Blossum, and Jennifer Petrie get their chance to shine.

Excited for this match, and tbh won't be that disappointed if Stanford loses (but still, GO STANFORD). Best 3 out of 5 for the title of west coast supremacy.
I know they're different, but from a far-off perspective, these teams look like mirror images: Frohling and Kipp, Lukes and Baird, Miner and Blossom. Maybe SD has more effective middles (can Francis practice for 2 weeks before tomorrow?), but maybe Oglivie is more effective than Benbow (don't remember Benbow's advanced stats from that other thread, so could be wrong). Stanford playing at home, but maybe not in front of the most rabid crowd. Neither team as lost since September...
Can SD handle Stanford's service pressure? Can Stanford keep up with the most physical and consistent team they've played since, probably, Louisville?
LFG!

This is brutal for me 😠Love Stanford, but they can go for it all next year when they return everyone. Gotta root for SD here and I feel like they match up fairly well against Stanford. SD runs a fast offense but aren’t the quickest blockers, so they can hopefully beat Stanford’s block with speed while also being able to set up their block well against the slower offense of Stanford.

Hot take:
At the starts of matches, sometimes Stanford players seem like they think they're back in Newport Beach, or Brentwood, or La Jolla, or whatever rich Indianapolis suburb Baird is from, and life is just so nice and pleasant and aren't we all just friends having a good time in the sun... It's like it takes them a minute to realize that, no no no, they're in a fight to the (theorthetical) death. I think Tara Vanderveer has referred to it as the "nice girls from Stanford" syndrome, w/ respect to basketball, but I think it applies here, too.
Anyway, I know they were watching SD eat Kentucky for dinner last night, so I hope they were paying attention. And I hope the country club crowd brings a little more rock n roll. Because SD will not be taking prisoners.
