San Diego just proved that the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee had it all wrong. San Diego, should have been the #1 see, not Stanford. To me, the only reason why Stanford got the #1 seed is that they are from a Power 5 Conference.

A lot of people are coming down kinda hard on Stanford. For stretches of this match I thought they looked the best they'd played all season. After set 3 I felt like Stanford was kinda overwhelming SD. It's downright scary that they're getting everyone back, and I can only imagine this loss will fuel them. Stanford was great if Baird was. Medium if she wasn’t. Kipp was incredible but she’s not Plummer. Next year will be scary.

The adrenaline is still pumping in my veins, and I was watching from home lol
What a match. I really thought Stanford was going to run away with it in the 4th, but SD somehow pulled it out, and then sent it to a 5th. Wow. So proud of this team. I knew that this was gonna be a special group, and I'm glad they have the results to back it up! Final four let's go!

San Diego-Texas will be the 1st match of the NCAA Semifinals (7ET start)
Pitt-Louisville will be the 2nd match (930ET start)
I thought they'd flip those.

I think Stanford not closing out the 3rd set fast enough and letting Sandiego go on a 4-0 run gave the Toreros some momentum and belief that they could pull this off. they nearly blew it in the 4th but had one final push at the end. card made 2 errors and frohling and luke’s came up big to force a 5th
luke’s struggled in the attack phase but was able to deliver 20K and was solid in serve receive most of the match and all weekend long tbh

Medium if she wasn’t. Kipp was incredible but she’s not Plummer. Next year will be scary. Baird looked tentative in the warm up session before the match started lacking velocity on her spikes. Whether its confidence or an injury, Stanford needed more from her tonight. Still, Stanford could have eked out a victory. Against really good teams you have to keep your execution level up and that's what cost Stanford the victory tonight. Two sequences, one in set two and the other in set 4 is where they let their guard down and it cost them a trip to the FF.

no one is saying blossom is the next USA NT setter (hopefully no one, at least—she’s 5-9 lmao), just saying she is the best setter at the ncaa level and that’s something she should be complimented for! bc that is also very hard to achieve If she were taller, she would absolutely be in the conversation.

Nothing against Stanford, but San Diego wanted this match more. They had something to prove. For one thing, that the Selection Committee made the wrong decision in making Stanford the #1 seed, in their Region. San Diego played with a chip on their shoulder, sort of speaking.

Rewatched the Stanford-San Diego match on ESPN+. It was a great match....a battle to the 5th at 9-9, and then it was all San Diego!

yea they’ll certainly find success overseas, hopefully some of them will come into the NT gym. i mean no disrespect to them because they’ll just keep getting better with more experiences and they’re already super talented, idk i feel like present day they wouldn’t be starting yet Lazaro and Anchante will certainly be coming into the NT gym. ...in Spain and Peru, that is.

First of all, congrats to San Diego. They played fearless until the final buzzer. Some really outstanding volleyball. Some of their fans really pissed me off standing up all the damn time blocking my view, but that's a separate issue.
Please stop putting any blame on Miner. She was great, as she has been all year. Yes, for sure, we needed more middle production. But that is not Miner's fault. Perhaps she could have given Vicini a couple more looks; but Francis had nothing to offer. Miner could see that Francis could not get off the ground. Francis has a TON of heart, fire, but was not in game shape to play more than 2 sets, perhaps 3. I really wish Hambly would have considered A Smith for the 4th set. Less offense, but closes the block so well. Yes, Francis is better, but not right now.
We really needed Baird to show up. We nearly pulled it off with little production from her: 10/5/44 / .114. We really should have tied it at 10-10 in the fifth. We were so tentative, all of a sudden tipping, or setting the ball over. We froze up. San Diego didn't. They kept swinging for the fences. And San Diego's passing in the 5th set was PHENOMENAL. They earned it.
I will be rooting for San Diego in the final four.
