I wonder if Snyder left school before or after Mac and Ally visited Penn State together last weekend. Does it really matter? It's natural to wonder when things change so rapidly and without an explanation. She was all in on Penn State just a few days ago.

Per the DigNittany forum, "Snyder withdrew from Penn State and is no longer part of the team. We wish her well in her future endeavors." Now we see the wisdom in the staff picking up Ally. I hope she’s doing alright. Hopefully it wasn’t anything serious that caused the sudden change

She maybe just wants to play.

It's very serious and would require immediate treatment.

Guess I was right. See my last message. This style of recruiting might work in the short term, but will prove to be a problem down the road. It’s not a productive way to build trust in your athletes.

I agree. But I also sort doubt that’s what happened. KSC has been nothing but class as a head coach. Something was different about this case. I’m not blaming anyone. From the outside looking in, this commitment didn’t follow any of the typical steps. I hope this doesn’t lead to, or point to, a negative narrative.

The quality of transfers shows that players want to play for KSC. It shows that she wants to win, and she believes the best way to win is to recruit better players instead of train the ones she already has. There is nothing wrong with that. Recruiting is her strength instead of teaching the skills to the current players. It looks like at least she's honest with her players and let's them know that she will recruit over the current players if it gives the program a better chance to win. This is a great lifelesson to the athletes- do the job well or else you're getting replaced.

The roster had big holes when RR retired. She is doing a fine job of filling those holes in a competitive portal environment.

This is a great lifelesson to the athletes- do the job well or else you're getting replaced. She's only been a head coach for one year. Seems awfully premature to make such a bold statement as "she believes the best way to win is to recruit better players instead of train the ones she already has". The time to have landed a strong 2022 and 2023 class passed before she was head coach, and she walked into the job knowing that by 2023 there would be a lot of scholarships to give given how large Penn State's 2018 class was. She also had to deal with transfer outs and a reduction of 2023 commits, including Chicoine. What would you have prefer her do? Give those open scholarships to uncommitted 2022 and 2023 players? yeah, I thought that sounded stupid in my head too. Her actual coaching skills will surely manifest as time goes on, but in the interim, I see nothing wrong with using Penn State's history and Big 10 money to land transfers to help fill in the rather large roster gaps left by arguably the GOAT coach. Penn State still carries an enormous amount of weight in the college volleyball world and she'd be doing the program a disservice by not trying to field the best teams she could, by whatever means possible.

The fact that a player who is her conference's Setter of the Year & First Team All-Conference is willing to use her last year of eligibility to most likely be a back-up... I think it speaks volumes for how much players want to play for Coach Katie and her staff. I've seen clips of Ally in action and she's good. hmmm, I watched a lot of High Point last season (Palazzolo was on my fantasy team). She wasn't THAT good. I'd say she's a solid backup, but she's not good enough to set a top 25 team - based on what I saw. Her out of system setting can be pretty suspect. I'd take the conference SOY with a grain of salt - Campbell would have been the only other team based on conference record to warrant the award, and they ran a 6-2.

She serves well and may be a service sub for Podraza.
