Izzy Starck is coming in 2024 not this year. yeah that’s why I said a one and done setter makes sense, bc Starck comes in next year so the setter would set this coming season. Would love to see PSU pick up another setter for 2024. Stark is really really good, but they have been cutting it thin at setter recently since Blossom left. (or possibly a 2025)

So as of right now, are you guys thinking Snyder will be the starting setter?

But it wouldn’t surprise me if they are actively looking for another portal setter. Given what happened to Northwestern's setters this past season, it's clear teams need more than one setter. Penn State does have Quinn Menger, but she's a DS/S, and has played primarily as a serving sub through her first two seasons. So it actually would surprise me if Penn State isn't actively looking for another portal setter. Then again, I appear to have been wrong about Jaylen Reyes transferring to France through the Transatlantic Portal (based on the somewhat flimsy evidence that he had started following Emmanuel Macron), so who knows.

I fully agree with this. I don’t think Menger really would ever see time as a setter, I think tacking on an S to her position on the roster is probably indicative of the fact that she’s more of a practice setter, especially considering at one point during last spring Penn State didn’t have a true setter on the roster. She does have a great lefty serve!

Although, the May window is coming.

To be honest I’ve never really watched ASU so I don’t know much about Snyder and her ability to be able to judge if the coaches see her as their starter or not. If they do, I have full faith in that decision. They surprised me this season with Elesaia. I never expected a setter from CSUB to be as good as she was for us.

I read somewhere that she's an aggressive setter, like Elesaia.

This is great for her. Can’t wait to see her shine and hopefully get a big role at whatever position she wants to play. I’m happy to see all her PSU teammates in her instagram comments.

Who’s your top choice for an OH? I know you want a terminal pin like Williams but outside of Thomas-Ailara and maybe Mruzik is there one to get? I think the staff might be better off developing Starck and Markley than making them share a rotation and brining in Gonzales or Moore. I honestly would love to see Markley and Starck be the starters next season. Markley showed that she can be terminal, and Starck has great ball control and has always been solid when she has hit. The only position I would truly say they might actually want a one and done at is setter. It just would make a lot of sense with the fact that little Starck is coming in and I’d assume she will likely get the starting nod her freshman year. Starck is not terminal. It’s a big reason why she lost the job to Markley. You have got to be able to put the ball down. Hopefully she improves. Her shot selection is not great

I once met a vulture named Izzy. I was fond of that bird.
