I watched the AU-OSU game yesterday and it was great to see Sydney Hilley playing again. They mixed up the teams for the latter two sets (they played four) and Sydney was setting Emily Londot, who was absolutely unstoppable with a great setter feeding her the ball. Is this going to be on BTN+ or YouTube or somewhere I could view the archived version?

Sarah Franklin posted a IG reel with a question posed to her about how stacked the OH position is. She said they all welcome the competition and how much better it’s going to make everyone with that level of competition. She said they’re all excited for TTA to arrive this summer. UW's players have consistently had a "we welcome the position battles" attitude. And I think the team is hungry after that Pitt loss, and they recognize that simply running it back doesn't give them the best chance at another national championship. I know that attitude was quite strong when Kelly would joke about “recruiting someone to take ______’s spot” in the past (IIRC there was a story in this thread about him saying that to Carlini). I could see this being a little rocky of a thing to say in the new transfer portal era.

What do you think she is going to say on her IG account? If she didn't want to say what she said, she could have simply not made a post at all. Lets not be naive about this. Sarah Franklin is obviously chasing the brand exposure dollars (she has a website exclusively dedicated to her volleyball content). Whether or not her social media posts are genuine I suppose is a question, but that question isn't exclusive to Franklin - the same question can be asked for a lot of social media posts. However, NOT posting/engaging with her audience is simply not an option in today's NIL world, which places an unavoidable premium on attracting attention. TTA entering the program and providing depth on the OH is a big deal in the volleyball world. Franklin remaining silent on it it, regardless of how she feels, would be a missed brand exposure opportunity.

Somebody asks a question across her Instagram and she doesn't want to answer it, she simply doesn't answer it. And we never see the question or know there was a non-answer from her. She just moves on to the next question. She maintains the social media presence you feel she needs without answering the question she doesn't want to answer. SMH...

She could answer any number of questions that she probably gets, but she chose to answer that one.
That said, she's also probably not the one most in danger of losing a spot, so what does she have to worry about?
Whatever. It's a fool's game trying to read intent or intrigue into things like social media posts. But it's the off season, so...

It's time to get the VB juices flowing, if only for a few weeks.
There's a great Dennis Punzel article up on Wisconsin State Journal online [might be a paywall, I was signed in already so I'm not sure]. Anyway, it sounds like the Badgers have been all about passing, passing, passing. Coach Sheffield was very forthcoming about the good, the bad and the expectations going forward. Coach Dildine, the passing coach, was very clear and candid in her comments, e.g.,:
" ... a good portion of every practice is devoted to refining the passing skills. It’s a process that actually began during the five weeks leading up to spring practice when each passer got at least 3,000 touches a week, not counting open gym time."
“We’re working on earning the right to be the best team in the country,” Dildine said. “That’s by fine tuning some deficiencies.”
“As coaches, we will get them to the peak of what is possible. But that ceiling is only how far we can take them. Their job is to make our ceiling their floor. That’s their job.”
“When something was predictable coming from a server we were as good as any team in the country,” Dildine said. “What I saw in both Pitt and Penn State, there was a lot of variability in where they put the ball versus each rotation. They kept us honest.”
“The passers that come through here, it’s a badge of honor to be a passer, to have the team rely on you the way they have to. They don’t care that it’s thankless to the common eye.”
The bar is set high. Who is going to make that leap? Go Badgers!

Super excited for tonight’s game! Rainbows managed to score tix from some folks who weren’t using them. After the week and a half I’ve had, I need this so bad. Especially excited to see Carter Booth in action wearing Badger Red for the first time.
