I've thought all year that Texas was the best team in the country.
Good fight by the Toreros.
But, going back to the earlier position matchup post, can I mention...
Blackwell 9 kills (.174) and 7 blocks O'Neal 5 kills (.133) and 4 blocks.
OK

OK, I watched it live last night and then was too tired to post but these are my final thoughts: I think experience plays a lot in both aspects of the game. This was a USD team that never made it to the final 4 vs a same(ish) Texas team that played in a National Championship 2 seasons ago.. USD looked uncomfortable the entire match with the exception of Blossom, they were just out classed. I don't think they were ever really going to beat Texas and it showed with the 1st set going extra points and then the next 3 being pretty comfortable. I think the first set was more of Texas *losing* the set than USD actually winning it. Nevertheless, this USD team was amazing. I wish they had Blossom earlier because they had the hitters, the defense, the blocking, and if they all stayed for one more year, they would 100% be National Champions. I actually loved seeing them play in the tournament and I probably rarely guessed right where Blossom was setting the ball. It's going to be really sad to see Edwards/Frohling/Lukes/Blossom leave, that trio led by Blossom was a tandem.

Eggleston, Phillips, and O’Neal. But both Akana and Caffey were on Nebraska’s finalist team from last year. I do think your point has merit. In particular many of the people on staff st Texas - not just Elliott and Sullivan, but support staff behind the scenes - have been at that level on multiple occasions versus this being USD’s first. Regardless, great team for the Toreros, and a heck of an accomplishment making it to the Final Four through Palo Alto.

I wonder if Bergmark gets the start for the title match since she’s been brought in the last two matches to help the blocking

I wonder if Bergmark gets the start for the title match since she’s been brought in the last two matches to help the blocking I think Caffey will start and then Jerritt will give her the quick hook with Bergmark if her blocking is not up to par and/or her hitting is off. He usually doesn't like making a dramatic change in the starting lineup, especially in the last game of the year, unless there's some injury. He doesn't want to throw off the team mojo. And Caffey knows her rope has grown shorter as the team as gone further in the tournament. No sulking on the sideline after she's been pulled. She like the rest of the team just want to W-I-N the darned thing.
