all the social media facebook, twitter, IG people.. especially B1G homers on social media. VT has been mixed. There were definitely some people here who were buying in.. and others alleging they weren't going to be battle tested come tournament time and were a good team, but not Final Four quality. And, the SD coaching staff and players have read all that and use it as motivation? I mean the only reason I come to VT is to use all the hateful, stupid, and idiotic post to motivate me so I can dominate the world. I guess it could work for volleyball too. |

coming from a san diego fan...
wins are never deserved, they are earned. it is not disrespectful to have an opinion about a team or a matchup. that's what being a fan is all about. we'll never know who "deserves" to win until they actually do.
when people underestimate a team it certainly adds fuel to their fire and that's what you're seeing from san diego. i know for sure that there's no way the seniors on either side of the net are going down without one heck of a fight. i expect a fun game with both teams giving it their best and i'm happy i get to watch!

okay but let's all be honest here, both teams get disrespected/hate. Texas might be the most hated team in the country. it's somewhat silly to say the disrespect SD gets is an any bigger motivation than the motivation texas has from being constantly hate on. it's a moot point.

Two sides: one coin. Texas plays through the obvious disrespect of being constantly loaded with talent. Everyone hates us, should have eleventy-one trophies, we stare down too many opponents across the net, etc. San Diego has been picking off opponents while dealing with being called not battle tested, won’t hack it when they play the big dogs, don’t deserve a top four seed, and most of those critiques coming from people who couldn’t be bothered to watch them play until the regionals. |
