Honestly, good riddance to Cook. Wanted so badly to like him but the recruits have been subpar and the performance of the team as a whole not only uninspiring but truly pathetic this past years. The highest ranked class the program has had and they couldn’t even get through the sweet 16 in the tourney? The only highlight in the past few years was Sam Drechsel and she was a transfer in, only because she’s a local girl that ironically enough didn’t get snatched up by uw originally..
Some new life and competitiveness injected into this program would be a nice change. Someone call Krista to come back and take the reigns.

Ok so 2 Conference titles in the past 3 years, converting a middle to an AA pin hitter and a rising star in the pro leagues, yea this all seems like something to hate on Cook for. If you’re talking about Vansant then you probably just don’t know the ins and outs of this sport and are just being salty. If that’s how UW fans feel even though he had nothing but good things to say about the college and program then I’m glad Minnesota got him and will take care of him long as he keeps winning tradition going.

Well considering Kara Bajema was an OH her entire career until they asked her to play middle for two seasons because she was athletic enough to get the job done.. has nothing to do with Keegan. You’ve got it turned around there bud, she’s been a trained OH her whole career in club. And 2 titles in an already weaker Pac-12 conference when one of those was during a Covid season is hardly the accolade you think it is

It just sounds to me like another salty grump of a “fan” looking to make an enemy out of thin air

There is not a single program in the country that could have four of their top five OHs get injured and not be severely impacted.

Fella has a point. KCook was here 8 years and half the time he didn't even win the PAC Title.

Cook was a great coach for UW… ya recruiting wasn’t great but the PNW doesn’t have a ton of local talent to recruit from (comparably speaking). He also won 4 pac 12 titles in his 8 years as HC. Most of those being up against a pretty gnarly Plummer lead Stanford team… give him a little more respect than that

Is that why the Minnesota program is paying him nearly half a million a year to coach there instead of here?

KCook definitely has a good resume on paper - 4 Pac12 titles, 1 final four, 3 elite eight in 8 years. Multiple AA awards across all positions (except for libero) maintained the program around #10 in the nation except for this past season. That’s a good resume, but not as good as Fisher or DBK who were hired around the same time.
The trajectory of the program is concerning though.
Even if we disregard the 2022 season, Washington has not been as highly ranked as it used to be. Washington was consistently a top 10 program sometimes top5 in the early 2010s, but it’s been around #8 - #12 the last couple years.
Recruiting was another problem. Washington used to be attracting top 20 recruits (Scambray, Dehoog, Tanner, Schwan, Jones, Vansant). KCook was only able to recruit two top 20 recruits in Grote and Summers during his 8 years at Washington.
Of course you can argue that the rankings for players arent reliable or the parity of the sport is higher, but these are just some facts to back why some fans aren’t necessarily satisfied with KCook.
