Are people surprised by this? I don't know anything about her.

Are people surprised by this? I don't know anything about her. Not at all. She was JMac's top assistant at Washington and was the first choice to replace him. However, she was not ready to take the HC position then, possibly due to having 3 very young children.

I think her name popped up too, but not as much. And since I don't follow Washington closely, I didn't know much about the breakdown of assistant coaches - only knew the head coach.

Any chance Krista comes back as Associate Head Coach?

This is a lot like Salima. Everybody has high praise for her, hasn’t been a head coach until now. But she’s got a great resumé

Krista doesn't seem to be a good coach based on records: 2018 @ Indiana 16-15 2019 @ Indiana 14-19 2020 @ Indiana 5-15 2021 @ Indiana 10-22 ( and Indiana's record for 2022 was 16-16) 2022 @ Illinois 15-15 ( and Illinois' record for 2021 was 22-12)

Associate head coach? No. It had assumed that 'Associate Head Coach' was a position specifically used for Leslie G's unique position, given her senior and highly influential position in the program, while still not being HC. Is that a common position title in other programs?

Crazy to think that all 3 coaches at Washington ended up becoming head coaches in 3 different schools in the same year. Has that happened before?

I'm doubtful but maybe somebody that knows more than me has the actual answer. Did some racking of my brain and the closest thing I can find is the 2016 Nebraska coaching staff. Following that season, DBK left for Louisville and Tamas left for Illinois. Cook obviously stayed at Nebraska, which I suppose is similar since Gabriel stayed at Washington.
