I see either team of the top two teams of 2022 winning in five sets. But on paper I will pick Texas, with the best backcourt in probably their history. A lot of options on offense and the threats are a defensive challenge. I thought so in non-conference and nothing in the tournament has changed my mind. I hope Louisville, with Dani Busboom Kelly, can win the first touch battle which is really important for their hopes of winning tonight. I am pulling for Louisville but the team of Texas in six major transfers in 2022 seems to good.

My head says Texas 3-1. My heart says Louisville 3-0. My Gut says Louisville 3-2. I with go my gut Louisville 3-2. DBK stops this stupid narrative that a women coach can't win a natty. JE and Deputy Sullivan retire after the match. Finally, I just can't bear the thought of the Texas Longhorns winning the natty and holding up the trophy in Omaha. Go Cards!

Is there a narrative a woman coach can’t win a national championship? I don’t understand this. Why would volleyball be unique? Women coaches win national championships in other women sports regularly. It’s only a matter of time in volleyball. Maybe tonight is it, but even if Texas wins I don’t think the narrative after the match is going to be Texas won because they had a male head coach. That’s silly.

I think the “a woman should win the natty” narrative is gaining steam bc of the teams in the championship this year. I don’t think it was a big narrative in 2017. I wonder why? 🤔

I don't think such a narrative exists. Clearly, there are coaches that are more than capable. It just hasn't happened yet. But it will. Maybe as early as tonight.

- "recruiting" is a big part of "coaching" at the college level - JE has recruited plenty of players who were not in the Top 50 that he and the staff developed into top-tier players - If sustaining UT's level of success over the last 17 years has been all about recruiting, then why haven't Minnesota, Stanford, Washington, or even Penn St & Nebraska been to as many FFs? Or even as many regional finals?

For the last time, the argument isn't that Elliott can't develop or strategize. I just happen to think some other coaches are better in those areas.

Yes, perhaps "some other coaches" are marginally "better" in those areas. But that means they are lacking in another area, or they'd be making FFs with regularity like Texas. Or did you just ignore the last point?
