Texas Beach will be at some game/tournament on Oahu the week of Texas Spring Break, which is the week of March 12th. Besides giving the whole team a freebie Hawaiian Spring Break, it's obviously a chance for JE to recruit more littles from the islands. Is Texas’ beach team just its indoor team, like how Nebraska does it? Will be good to see them lose for a change. 😂 it will be the first year, just to get the program started, but Jerritt has specifically stated the goal for the beach program in the future will be to compete at the highest level like every other Texas sport. Some indoor athletes will be allowed to play on the beach team if they want, but it’ll be its own program I think it also has to be because it was opened to comply with a settlement linking the number of scholarships UT gives female athletes with the percentage of the student body that is female. If it were just the indoor team that wouldn’t fix the scholarship situation

'cause I love my team but I cannot be watching live in 95 degree heat. There are limits.

JE will be the operations person. Sullivan will be HC and Hunt will be assistant. The plan is for JE to hire a permanent HC for beach as the season progresses. And then the next year, the new HC can recruit and open up the team for non-indoor players.
He's stated that there are some indoor players that are not likely to want to play beach because it's something they've never tried. However, Molly Phillips has taken to it like a fish to water and loves it.

Do we think Holly McPeak is looking for a job? I know she coached Molly some last summer.

JE was talking about it in the Point Texas club and said, "And then when I hire the coach she can......" and I thought Whoa he's already got a name ready to go? I don't know about the beach coaching profession. How balanced between men and women coaching numbers?

Yeah I know Byrd and helmers are great beach players. Not sure how much swindle has played but I’m sure she will play. Texas did say this first season will be limited action just to get used to everything but Texas will be recruiting actual beach players in the future. Let’s be honest Texas alone is a selling point so when we make a good hire I expect us to compete for national championships in the near future for beach.

He was shocked for a split second before he realized it was a joke. If you don't know it, he's got a full sand court in his back yard. The fact that his wife plays professional beach volleyball still(?) is also a factor.

JE has said multiple times that after it was announced that Texas was starting a beach program he was getting inundated with with calls and texts from prospective players as well as coaches. But....he was kinda trying to get through the Fall 2022 volleyball season. So it was on the backburner.

Somebody is going to have to create a Texas thread on the beach board.

Somebody is going to have to create a Texas thread on the beach board. There was one started when the program was announced. Likely is buried back several pages at the moment.

Likely Molly played some beach (at least somewhat casually) during her club days as her club has at least two indoor sand courts. Also another club in Arlington had six outdoor sand courts.

Probably also some indoor practice courts for the winter months and bad weather days.
