does anyone know why Ratliff isn't playing this week? Ratliff, Kemp, Granberry, Stucky, Rutherford...unfortunately an All-SEC injury/illness list. Lots of teams having to make some big adjustments this season.

I apologize. I meant adjustments from previous games, not between sets. I think Anderson did a better job at libero than the previous libero. They won the first set. Then, if I remember correctly, more adjustments were made in the second and third sets that didn't seem to work out. I hope they figure it out, but it doesn't look promising at the moment.

Week 2 highlights:
Auburn @ Arkansas - Only ranked matchup of the week, assuming Auburn stays T25 TAMU @ Florida - Will Florida go to 5 sets for the 5th straight match to honor #5 (lol) Kentucky @ Georgia - Will Kentucky get back on track or will things fall off the rails Georgia @ Auburn - 2 programs on the rise wanting to make a push for a pretty wide open SEC race.

Anyone else think this is Tennessee's year? It's been 8 years since either Kentucky or Florida haven't had a share of the SEC crown. I feel this Tennessee team has one of the best trios of pin hitters in the country along with solid middles and a good setter. Definitely good enough all around to be SEC Champs. Pssssttt they are a Top 10 team nationally too.
Their schedule also favors them winning the SEC. They only get Auburn, Arkansas and Florida once. They get UK twice but already handled them rather easily on the road.
Arkansas and Florida will put up a fight, but this is Tennessee's to lose. UGA, Auburn, UK, and TAMU should have a say in the matter as well and are capable of handing them a loss.

I mostly agree. But I was a little surprised by how Tennessee struggled at first with Mizzou. The Tigers served them out of system for longer than I expected. Can a tough(er) serving team have better luck?
Had I had the courage, my "hot take" for the "hot takes" thread was going to be that neither UK or UF would win the SEC this year. But I wimped out. I think UT looks very solid all around. Kerr is an impressive surprise, and Finghall looks dominant.

Tenn looks GOOD but the schedule may favor them a bit too much - it's like UGA last year that had Kentucky/Florida/Arkansas/Tenn once and were able to only finish top because of their relatively easy schedule. Tennesee really only has 3 ranked opponents in their schedule (1 if you genuinely consider Kentucky/Marquette ranked at this point). I would love to see more ranked opps in the non conf but as we have seen SEC is lowkey becoming *THE* volleyball conference. Look for the stretch of Auburn/Kentucky/Arkansas that Tennessee has. Don't sleep on the double against LSU at the end of the season either! Very capable of giving Tennessee a loss.

SEC POTW OFFENSIVE: Morgahn Fingall CO-DEFENSIVE: Nnedi Okammor CO-DEFENSIVE: Emily Beeker SETTER: Hannah Hogue FRESHMAN: Caroline Kerr I love this Hannah Hogue story. SEC volleyball is growing in national prominence. The level is getting better, recruits are coming in, and it’s a 5’8, born and raised Arkansan from Fort Smith playing for the Hogs that is just magic to watch. Works her ass off, is one of the best defensive setters in the country, top 10 in SEC aces, 2nd in assists per set, 6th in the country. Anybody remember her being on a recruiting list?? Jason Watson is ridiculously good at training athletes, especially setters. She’s the perfect setter/team fit for these fiesty Razorbacks.

Tennessee looks very good. Auburn took Florida to 5 sets and very easily could have won. Then Ole Miss could have very easily won the 4th set to take Auburn to five sets. I would not sleep on Ole Miss as they played Auburn very well, and Auburn could have/should have beaten Florida. Might have been a confidence issue and the fact that they were playing at Florida. Georgia is also really good and should at least be top third to middle of the pack. Unfortunately, I don't think LSU, even with some of its returners, will make a showing this year. The back row defense is not nearly as good as last year, and unfortunately, the setter is good at setting, but back row defense is not her forte.

Not that every match isn't critical for every team cause of course...it just means more. BUT, These 4 teams playing tonight all have a real need to get this one. Arkansas can pick up another quality win and extend their quest to stay in the top 16 through the year. Florida has been close to dropping their last two but just has too much scoring ability for teams to finish them. TAMU is good but has lost 3/5 and needs a statement win at some point along the way. Auburn's good graces with the Top 25 committee are seemingly bulletproof, but at some point they're gonna have to win to stay in there, right?
