Why couldn't the coach being involved with the USNT be a positive to a recruit? Especially if she were a player that had hopes of playing on the USNT. I'd think that would make Michigan intriguing... Just my view, but even in the best of times, being able to fulfill all the responsibilities and obligations of being the head volleyball coach in the B1G is a 24/7 job. There are only 24 hours in a day no matter what. For Michigan volleyball this is not the “best of times”; bottom tier facilities, a shaky roster, being in a conference one year away from infusing four additional top flight volleyball programs, does not seem the time for the new head coach to delegate her head coaching obligations and abandon her team during the start of the conference season. It’s unacceptable… This is a team that needs better players. IMO, Virtue should be searching every gym in this country to find better players instead of watching USNT matches in another country. They aren’t going to search for her… even if she was in Ann Arbor. She’s the head coach at one of the biggest name brands in college sports, she has a product to sell, but it’s hard to sell something when you are in another country instead of being the head coach at Michigan and missing 2 weeks of their matches. In case No one has noticed the best Michigan prep players are leaving the state. But I guess it’s ok, most of them will see her once a year when the play Michigan. Is Erin Virtue so vital to the USNT that no one could replace her? Mark Rosen may not have been Karch but his Michigan teams were always competitive in the best conference in the country. If someone wanted to destroy the program for the next decade they couldn’t have made a better plan than this reality. I don’t see an argument or scenario where this will not regress the program. Maybe that’s the intention of Michigan’s administration-if their head volleyball coach is in another country she can’t be in their offices pointing out why the facilities need immediate upgrades and how inaction and delay will most assuredly leave Michigan women’s volleyball at the absolute bottom of the conference. This is not going to end well…imo 🏐 Photos1! When you say: "Michigan, this is not the best of times.."..You've said it all.

Michigan was up 19-11 against Bowling Green in the 1st set. They lost 25-20. Fun, messy, entertaining match in BG tonight. At 19-11, Hannah Best from BG served Michigan off the floor, their confidence sank and it was an ugly spiral from there. Benavia Jenkins, serving as acting HC, switched to a 5-1 in Set 3 and Michigan's fortunes turned. They were able to get to a 5th set but made too many errors down the stretch. Cuchran, who played so well last weekend at libero gave way to Humphrey after a rough start. The team really misses Grant. The real puzzler is why the coaches stuck with Simmons for so long, 16 HE's on 48 swings. By the time they replaced her in the 5th, it was too late. Very nice match tonight from Murray and Vaulet. Shoutout to the BG student section who had the place rocking. We get anther crack at them on Sunday at home. Go Blue!

Total fan props to you for heading down to BG in a year the Wolverines are struggling! The run in the first set must have been terrible for you! It clearly turned the match result.

Kendall Murray and Jacque Boney were on the Conqu'ring Heroes podcast this week.
Nothing of real substance. Jansen brings up Virtue working with the National Team with both student-athlets... I'll let anyone that cares to listen make their own opinions on that topic after hearing their perspectives.
Something that bothered me though - - Apparently UM is trying to break the record against MSU on Friday night. A maize out was mentioned, the little-known (outside of VB) State Pride Flag trophy is talked about (which is fun), but STILL NO MENTION OF TRYING TO SET THE ATTENDANCE RECORD! I'm picking nits at this point... but the season hasn't left much fun volleyball to watch so its something to distract my dumb brain in the meantime.

Regarding the attendance record, there have been some posts on social media but not the same emphasis that preceded the 2017 match with OSU. There is always a big crowd for MSU and it is on a Friday, but I will be surprised if we break the record. In 2017, football was on a bye week and the volleyball match was the only game in town. We also had a much more competitive team. Michigan has won 10 straight against MSU and the Spartans haven't won in Ann Arbor since 2013. They will have a real shot Friday night.

Not changing my view much, but, three matches into the B1G season, Michigan is not as bad as Rutgers and have a better roster than Iowa. Tonight’s match will reveal where Michigan State is. #StopPlayingOnWoodFLOORS
